No, it's not new. I bought it used from Ordaway signs supply last September. Was supposed to be fully refurbished and ready to go. Did a few square feet of prints on it and then yellow started dropping out. Figured that was an easy fix of replacing a damper but that opened a whole can of...
Problems now aren't ink related so all is good on that note. All was printing very nicely when it worked yesterday. Linear encoder error and thermistor error now so I can't even attempt to print. Will try and see what firmware it is running but it should've been updated from the place I bought...
Single print head (dx7). I didn't mess with anything that would cause the problem....it just randomly started saying it when I came into the office after being off all night. I'll double check connections. But that has been the story of this machine since I bought it in September. Will print...
I think the cap or lines were clogged somewhat as I replaced the lines from the cap to the pump and let some cleaning fluid sit in the cap and it started working fine. Did several prints without issue yesterday. But of coarse that worked for one day until two more errors popped up when I came...
So I finally got the machine to print correctly yesterday. Come into my office today and it's beeping the 110 error. So I figure maybe the encoder is dirty so I clean it. No change. Replace the reader/eye (since I just so happen to have one laying around) still no go. I hadn't even tried to...
Well problem solved. The vertical adjustment was off on the heads. Realigned and it fixed the issue. Black does print a little "thick" so am going to tone down that channel some.
Well that makes sense if magenta prints too in order to make black. But I know the heads were aligned properly during the installation. Unless they got nudged after the test print. I'll need to work on this in the next few days to verify they are still aligned properly. But I do know a test...
I'm using flexi for the rip and have been using the same profile for years (for this material). I don't think I changed anything within my profile (unless on accident) but will revisit that too (though I did double check the other day to make sure nothing was obviously wrong). It definitely...
I replaced my head since the black was deflecting. Now there is a thin fuzzy red/purple edge around the black (didn't have this problem before). Haven't noticed it anywhere else except when printing black onto white. Multiple files are this way. Haven't changed profiles (that I know of since...
So I am STILL working on getting this machine (VS-640) up and running. Day after day I run into a new issue once one problem is fixed it's on to another. They all seem to stem from the original problem with color drop out. The machine has been sitting for about a month due to a broken tab on...
The only work around I have found is changing the "pure hue" setting on black to checked (I run red and yellow checked always). This provides what is almost a thin white outline around where the black and red meets. Not really ideal but at least you can read what something says on small...
So this has been an issue for a while...pretty much as long as I can remember. Normally just try to avoid printing fine detail that is black and red. My machine had some dithering on the black forever so thought that may be causing it. Replaced the head and it didn't help. Seems like there...
I get the 102 error when trying to do a limit position initialize. Tried it about 20 times and shortly after the tool carriage disconnects the error pops up.
Of coarse, I replace that stuff and then start seeing other errors. It's a never ending story with this #%#* machine. Now I get Service Call error 102 when trying to do a limit position initialize. Or I get error 103 when in service mode.
Yeah, I think I may start over and just replace all the dampers and cap top to be safe. But that is what I did 6 months ago that started a chain of reactions of major problems. At least I know now that there is an extra nipple on the bottom of the cap-top that needs a cover on it.
Cap top is new. Actually replaced it twice just in case. Spring is very strong. The ink is pooling just below the cap top on the carriage it sits on (metal). I am guessing this is related to the main problem since if I manually push the head over to the printing area blue ink seems to be...
Just when I think I got this machine going (been trying to get it right since October) I run into more problems. Roland VS-640. Finally got the machine where it printed fine 2 weeks ago when doing a bunch of test prints. Then last night decided to do a large print and the trouble started...
Figured I'd update for reference. I ended up replacing the 3 long ribbon cables from the main board to the carriage board and that fixed it. Not sure why 2 different carriage boards were giving different results but I supposed one fitting on the board may have been slightly different than the...
