  1. Standoffs and hanging a 4'x8' sign

I assume they already have the sign and they just want you to hang it, correct? I'd put 5 standoffs across the top and bottom and 1 centered on each end. When you drill your holes for them, drill them slightly oversized so the sign "floats" on the standoffs. Also, don't over-tighten the caps...
  2. New take on things................... what's yours ??

You would be amazed how many faxes we get in a day and how many times it's saved our butts. It's old school but it's a reliable way to verify orders and account statuses when all else fails. We actually have about a dozen customers who send us over so many orders that we requested they fax a...
  3. A Yellow Pages question - sort of

I agree with everybody else, it's a complete waste of money. They're trying to compete with Google Adwords and Google places, but unfortunately they never will be able to. I don't know a single solitary person who has used either a phone book or the yellowpages website to find a business in...
  4. New take on things................... what's yours ??

We get the vast majority of our invoices from our vendors via email. We also request a faxed statement at the end of the billing cycle to make sure no emails were missed. Once you get into the swing of it it actually works great. Like you said, emails get lost in cyberspace, it's a reality of...
  5. some advice on ps picture

I'm not at work so I don't have PS in front of me but you can also "replace color", I think it's under the adjustments menu. This brings up a dialog box that lets you eyedrop the color you want to change, adjust the "fuzziness" of the selection, and then change that color to any other color. It...
  6. OK....After much work....

    Yes.
  7. Vinyl for brick

Thanks! (-: I will say we've been using the 3M product for about 2 years now and the Mactac for about a year and I feel like the 3M holds up a little better having seen them both out in the real world for a while now. They adhere differently, the MacTac just has an aggressive adhesive, the...
  8. Belarc Advisor

Yup, it's saved my butt a few times, especially with Adobe serial numbers...
  9. how to unlock a file!

Aww man the old lock the layers trick! Designers love to pull that crap, I've spent seemingly hours of my life trying to figure out what in the world is wrong with Illustrator files only to have ignored this most basic of things...
  10. how to unlock a file!

Do this, or try to release a clipping mask. ctrl-alt-7 releases them. Usually when a file is placed into Illustrator it comes in clipped, sometimes clipped a couple times. So you might have to hit ctrl-alt-7 a few times until it releases everything.
  11. Have you replaced your JV3 recently?

We replaced our JV3 with our Epson GS6000 in January of this year. Really regret not getting another JV33 instead (we already had one JV33).
  12. Looking for vendor for high quantity vinyl sticker job.

Thanks Gary! I'd be glad to take a look at the specs on that. It may be a better job for screenprinting but I'll gladly take a look a quote it if I feel like we could be competitive on it. Just PM me the details. Thanks!
  13. Seal Image 62 plus laminator for sale

    Uh oh, bidding war... (-:
  14. Vertical coroplast trimmer, keencut -vs- fletcher -vs- neolt

We have a Fletcher and literally never, ever use it. We just find our table-top Javelins a lot easier, faster and more accurate. It's been taking up shop space for years now, we were actually discussing taking it apart and pitching it in the dumpster...
  15. Want to dull a shiny vinyl to matte

+1 for the Clearshield matte, we use it on all of our wallpaper jobs and it works great, gives the graphic a really nice low-luster finish and really helps to hide imperfections in drywall that a gloss finish makes stand out. Roll it on with a foam roller, or brush it on with a foam brush. It's...
  16. Did Solvex Change their 30/70 Perf Pattern?

haha I didn't even notice that!
  17. Did Solvex Change their 30/70 Perf Pattern?

Under the right circumstances it's not that bad actually. We have a fairly large installation of Solvex 50/50 that's been up for going on 5 years now and it looks as good as it did the day it was installed. We've had perf last years like that and we've had it start looking bad within a year...
  18. 3m question

Yes and yes. Neither manufacturer will honer their warranty if you mix and match brands, but they'll work fine. Just always use cast with cast, never put calendered on cast.
  19. Head is Leaking

Change your dampers! Just had a brand new head put in our JV33 with new dampers, and within 3 days one of the black dampers went bad and caused black ino to drip as well. Changed them and all is good.
