  1. GS6000 Green Head Issue

So you were out of the warranty period and they still charged you nothing? This is really good to hear, we had to replace our green head 6 months in and I'm worried it's going to be a persistent problem over the life of the machine. Glad to hear Epson is taking some responsibility for this.
  2. WTF is Roland Thinking.

Why not get a plotter from another manufacturer?
  3. How do you design??

75-100ppi here. if you want serious detail bump it to 150 but imo that's overkill...
  4. Looking to outsource my wrap printing - IA

Sending a PM now, we're merchant members!
  5. PVC free vinyl

I'm curious to see what Bob From Earth has to say on this subject... Don't worry about it. You will not get sick from it. You're more likely to get cancer from the plastic your plotter is made from than the vinyl you cut in it.
  6. 17 mil vinyl vs.... my plotter

You probably need to switch to a 60 degree blade
  7. PVC free vinyl

Would mylar work? What exactly are you trying to do any why do you not want a PVC-based product?
  8. Your Install Fonts - nice tool

    greatest website ever discovered!
  9. Ink around capping station? Epson GS6000

I can't tell from the photo but if you haven't replaced your capping stations in 2 years you're probably due to. It's not that expensive and it's good preventative maintenance.
  10. This is what happens when you don't wrap with cast vinyl.

That's what makes me mad. The shop I mentioned also claims to use cast and apparently they do a great job of educating their customers about it because when I quote against them their customers can spout off technical specs fairly well. When I explain to them that there is literally no way you...
  11. Recommended paper for solvent printer?

Another vote for Sihl 3686, we've tried many options and always always always come back to this. Customers love it.
  12. This is what happens when you don't wrap with cast vinyl.

It's definitely possible. There's a shop here in our town that does this on all of their wraps. We've redone a few of them, one seemed to be Oracal 3165RA and one looked like 3M IJ35. But they charge less than half of what Colorado's competition is charging. It takes some balls to charge $2400...
  13. Armed or Unarmed?

Words to live by. We've been robbed 4 times. I'm not a gun enthusiast, and I don't carry, but I do keep a couple hand guns around the office and home just in case.
  14. Wall Vinyl

Paint with several coats of gloss paint, preferably oil based, allow to cure as long as possible (2 weeks or more is ideal), then use a good cast vinyl, or a high-bond vinyl meant for textured surfaces. I wouldn't trust a traditional wall vinyl on that kind of texture, I have doubts as to how...
  15. HP's are here!

LMAO at their names. Seriously, my wife just yelled at me for laughing so hard. I tip my hat to you good sir!
  16. Printing "rich" red???

Oh, welcome! My wife's whole family is from Monticello, I didn't even notice that! We were just down there for Thanksgiving.
  17. Verticle Banner stands ???

Also Orbus. We used to use Creative Banner Assemblies until two of their stands literally self destructed and hit one of our clients in the head in the middle of a convention. And it took an argument with them to get them to replace the stands.
  18. Printing "rich" red???

We tend to get the richest red with c7/m100/y90/k5 or thereabouts. Setting your yellow to 100% will yield a slightly less rich red that leans to the orange side. Dropping it to 90 bumps the redness and adding in a bit of cyan and black increases the richness a little. Play around with it...
  19. Is there a downside to printing high speed?

that sounds backwards to me. High speed usually means lower resolution and fewer passes. Which translates into LESS wear on the printer. If you're printing 1440x1440 16-pass that a lot of ink drops per nozzle and a lot of passes vs. say 360x360 4-pass. In fact, 4-times as much usage for...
  20. Standoffs and hanging a 4'x8' sign

I'm partial to Nova Display. They're expensive but extremely nice, and they have a good selection of sizes. Also very fast to ship and excellent customer service. Standoff Sytems also has a good selection, a little less expensive than Nova, but I don't like them as well. I like Nova's mounting...
