  1. versacam photo paper

Look at iVivid satin photopaper as well. We switched from the 3686 Sihl (which is really not bad) to this and it's a night and day difference. The iVivid paper is actually paper-thin plastic that's coated to recieve the ink better, it's the best printing media we stock.
  2. Recommendations for Sticker Printing? (printing and die-cutting)

Look at the Summa DC4sx... http://www.summausa.com/product_main.php?category_id=15&sess_id=817d6cf2792a91b75aa4bdc51d1d7ed0... It does exactly what you need it to do.
  3. Color matching?

Your best bet is to try to get a PMS color from them. That's as close to a universal color matching system as you'll find, you know and have a reliable reference for what, say, PMS 137 should look like so matching it will be much easier. Most printer and RIPs are able to match the majority of...
  4. 46" lcd flatscreen for a monitor?

both screens don't necessarily have to be identical. I was running a 17" and a 20" side-by-side before I went to a single 30". If you want them to make one continuous screen, then yes it will look better if they're identical though.
  5. 46" lcd flatscreen for a monitor?

HDMI and DVI are identical quality wise. Most computer monitors are DVI, most TVs are HDMI. I'd stick with DVI, more widely available.
  6. 46" lcd flatscreen for a monitor?

Yup, you need a video card that supports multiple monitors. If you have two identical monitors side-by-side you'll want one with dual DVI or HDMI ports. Then you can move things around or arrange the monitors as needed, the display properties dialog lets you do all of this.
  7. 46" lcd flatscreen for a monitor?

Again, I may be wrong, but I'm almost positive you will lose quality, the maximum resolution, while high for TV, is awfully low for computer monitors. Not sure how much you're spending on the 46", but you might consider two side-by-side 30" monitors. I think the Dell 30" that I have is down to...
  8. 46" lcd flatscreen for a monitor?

I know some guys have larger, but I have a 30" dell and I couldn't really imagine having a larger monitor than that. it seems to be a perfect size, everything is proportional and within easy site, but I'd think you'd have to be looking all over the place and moving your head around on anything...
  9. Printing a true black to white gradient on a JV33

Try making your black 100% k, 0% everything else and then telling turning off color correction in the rip. Works for us with our JV3 and Onyx...
  10. Is this normal?

It depends on what kind of banding you're seeing. It there are very thin light or dark lines between each pass, that's just a media compensation issue and is easy to adjust. If the passes themselves are different from one to another, that's an ink or profile issue, harder to fix. For what it's...
  11. jv3 130 spII stops printing no info

Particleman has a good point, sometimes it is recoverable, try putting it into local mode and then back into remote when it does this. Don't know if it will work in your particular situation, but I've had it work more than a few times. The printer will beep, the screen will just flash whatever...
  12. Need help for cleaning a Mimaki JV3-130SPII ( Stored without cleaning???)

Start doing some captivity washes. It's in the manual how to do it, much easier than trying to explain it. I'd guess to start do a 24 hour soak to really loosen them up, then run a test draw to see how many, if any, nozzles are firing. Keep doing soaks like that until you make some progress, it...
  13. media compensation

Yup, I noticed that too, but it's because you;ve changed it on the previous media and now it's never set where it should be for the new media. In theory if your profile is correct you should just have to keep the media comp set at 0 on the computer and let the profile control it, but it doesn't...
  14. I'm stumped...

Galliard bold italic it was, thanks!
  15. I'm stumped...

OMG shovelhead's gone? Now what am I gonna' do??? Thanks Jill, I'll check those out and see if they'll match.
  16. I'm stumped...

Looking for the Cloud Park font, not having much luck. I think it might be from the Caslon family but I haven't found an exact match yet. Any guesses?
  17. Best price on Mimaki ink?

Right now we're going through about 8-10 440ml SS2 cartridges a week in our JV3, there have been a couple weeks that we've gone through 20 or more. We're buying them from Pitman and paying $120 per, plus shipping, and it's killing me to pay that much for them. That's the cheapest I can find them...
  18. Designing, CMYK or RGB?

Illustratr I design in CMYK, Phooshop I design in RGB until it's ready to print, then I convert to CMYK before sending to the RIP.
  19. What is your favorite "condensed"/taller font?

I'm a big fan of the Helvetica Neue condensed family, simple and have been around a while and nothing too fancy but they almost always seem to look nice. I also sort of like the lines of Myriad Pro's condensed versions, especially in italics.
  20. Easy question about crop marks

Most printing companies don't want you to place the trim marks. Just tell them the final cut size and the amount of bleed you added to the file, they'll add the trim marks in prepress.
