  1. Window Vinyl, Sign Permits and Customers Service

Yes, I am a total sap. I'm not a saint and I may find something I thought was legal isn't, but to answer your questions; When I pay someone $100 it is counted as an expense whether I pay cash or check. If it hits the threshold of $600/year, that person gets a 1099. If it is ongoing and...
  2. Window Vinyl, Sign Permits and Customers Service

I've been reading this thread for a few days now and biting my tongue. But this is getting ridiculous. What are you guys, part time sign makers and full time State Supreme Court Justices? Who the heck are you to determine which laws you're going to follow and which you feel priveleged to...
  3. Edge Foil Streaking heat setting?

All foils are Gerber. Do you increase heat by using the "light" or "dark" setting? Couldn't they have used "Low Temp" and 'High Temp"? And the two overprint settings give you another heat variable. I just got suggestions to lower and raise the temperature. I like the idea of printing a...
  4. Edge Foil Streaking heat setting?

We have a problem with Flood Coat White leaving diagonal streaks in the print. We use this to back second surface prints that go in windows and these streaks ruin our print. It's the final color to be run and we have, in this case, five spot colors run ahead of it that get ruined. When this...
  5. Pen plot on a CJ or SJ 540?

Does Roland make a pen for the CJ540 (which is the same as the SJ540) so we can make pen plots to use for mounting patterns and the like? Our CJ stopped working as a printer years ago when the print heads failed. We've used it as a cutter only for around six years now and never thought to ask...
  6. Refunding a deposit......from 5 years ago????

Not to go all CPA on you, but if you take a deposit, you create a liability for that amount. If the deposit is described (in writing) as non-refundable, then you need not repay that liability with cash. You do, however, still have the liability until the work is performed. It doesn't go away...
  7. Frosted Crystal App Tape Fail

We do squegee the app tape down pretty hard before trying to transfer the film. We never get to the point of using application fluid. The graphic is ruined before it gets anywhere near the glass. Part of the graphic goes with the transfer tape and parts go with the backer. Putting it all back...
  8. Frosted Crystal App Tape Fail

We've been testing it here in our shop where it's 70 degrees and it still fails. We use Gold 3M squeegees. I'll check the depth to see if we're cutting too deep and I'll call Gregory to see if they can help. If anyone has a specific brand/model tape to recommend please do. In the meantime...
  9. Frosted Crystal App Tape Fail

We're trying to install a 3' x 7' piece of 3M Frosted Crystal vinyl (with a group of names and some simple graphics knocked out) and keep having trouble with our application tape. When we try to remove the backer sheet in order to apply it to the glass, most elements stay on the backer not...
  10. Font ID help

That's it. Barely had time to check email and I got the answer. Thanks all.
  11. Font ID help

Sometimes the simplest fonts are the hardest to identify. Does anyone know this font?
  12. Time for Payroll

We use a free app called EZ Punch Standard. It's like a time clock on the server. You just walk in, select your name, punch in and punch out at the end of the day. EVery payroll period, you run a payroll report with everyone's hours and report them to your payroll service. If you want it on...
  13. Looking for a good straight edge cutter

Just listed a high end RotaTrim in your price range. Check the Member to Member Classifieds here on Signs101.
  14. RotaTrim Cutter

RotaTrim Model T1850, 73" cutting length. Not new but almost never used. We bought this years ago to trim trade show graphics but stopped selling these graphics shortly after. It's been leaning in a corner ever since. The plastic clamp strip has yellowed ($71 from Alvin) but the trimmer is...
  15. Perf like Window Shades

I have a customer looking for custom printed window shades that work much like window pert. He wants to see a photo image on the outside but because it's an office, he wants to see out from the inside. instead of using pert he wants to be able to raise the shade at times for full sunlight...
  16. Even more recent work!

I love the fuel van too and I have to ask; Is that a photo or an illustration?
  17. Logo mats

I did a search for this and found the most recent thread was from 2013 but only listed companies that no longer produce these. A Google search shows plenty of choices, as one would expect. I have two questions. First, and most importantly, what type of mat would you recommend for producing...
  18. Seal Laminator Takeup Rolls...What type of plastic is it??

By the way how did it break? My laminator came with two (in 1996) and although all sliced up, I couldn't break one if I tried.( Try snapping a piece of 3" schedule 40)
  19. Seal Laminator Takeup Rolls...What type of plastic is it??

It's the inside diameter that has to match. It seems like schedule 40 but you'll have to test it. It attaches by a friction fit to the inside. The fitting expands to increase the tension on the roll. Because its used as a take up reel, it doesn't have to fit a core, it has to have the right tension.
  20. Kerning in Omega

That was the only way to enter type in a IVB. Those were the days.
