How old is the cap top on your printer?

Are you using Mutoh ink and parts? Was the headrank updated after the printhead was replaced?

If you are getting pockets of air on the cyan ink lines, fault is most likely an air leak

What happens when the cutter tries to read the registration marks? Does the cutter come up with an error message after it failed to read the registration marks?

This is why it is good practice the save the .prm file of the printer during install

I would push cleaning solution through the head using a syringe as a last resort, just be careful that you do not exert too much pressure or you can cause more damage the head. I have made my own improvised cleaning jig, a bit crude but effective.

If the problem is with the rear media detection sensor, you will usually get an End of Roll message or something similar. The problem could more likely be the media edge detection sensor mounted on the left side of the carriage. You can temporarily bypass this sensor just to get you going if...

If you are in MSA Technician Mode, you should see this menu. You need to use the Board Replacement Wizard. What this program does is it will clone your original mainboard.

Have you been successful doing this before (with lamination)? It is possible that the lamination is causing the sensor not to properly read the registration marks, also check that there is no bright light shining directly on the media as this can blind the sensor.

Insert each ink cartridge gently but with a deliberate firm pressure and the pins will not bent. Broken or bent pins problem occurs usually when cartridges are slammed into the holder or when using non genuine Mutoh ink cartridges.

Try printing without attaching the material to the take up unit. If the material tracks straight, then the problem is with the take up unit (possibly not parallel to the platen). If the problem still occurs without the take up, the fault could be with the media roll holders not being aligned...

Not familiar with this printer model but that is possibly a PF Encoder issue

This problem is fixed by updating the firmware of the printer, the latest firmware version for the VJ-1204 is V2.02 for the Mainboard and V1.24 for the Heater Controller Board. WebInterface
