Looking at replacing our aging L25500. Know that each printer has its quirks and I'm glad to hear about them, but I don't now how much of a headache a 560 will cause me for the first month.

So you are saying that if I am currently printing a run of vinyl, and will run through some banner afterwards, that I can not pre-rip the banner job until I have the banner material loaded?

Just curious, was the view in the print preview window pre or post ripping?

For those of you opening the curing door at the start of a print, is there a catch to keep it up or do you have to actually hold it open?

We don't do enough banners to justify buying one of those. Did just pick up a pneumatic one and that has been a huge time saver. Nice side perk is that my little sister can't say she doesn't have the strength to set grommets anymore either.

Just need to find one for the 500 series printers now. The SM for the L25500 saved me a bunch on service calls.

FWIW, the HP guy on the webcast thing I saw last month swears that they just shutdown their trade show units, box them up, and let them sit until the next show. Most times don't need to replace printheads when they fire back up. Just passing on his story, no idea if its the best course of action.

How opaque? Could it of been printed on something that can print white, like a Gerber or Summa?

Consider the Summa DC line too, same principle as the Gerber, just a different format, each has its advantages.

This is just from my experience, and maybe someone else knows different, but I don't think you can barcode through Summa's own software. I have never seen a way to do it in SCC, thus it wouldn't be available in SWP. Kind of funny that one of the most powerful features of their plotter is only...

Like others have said above, they produce at high speed rather then worrying about absolute quality. I have a couple of their banners we printed for a local youth group, forgot to grab one I had at home this morning. I can post a picture of the banner later today if you are interested.
