  1. Need Help Can you / are you willing to help?

Is your circle "off" intentionally? Here's my 5min
  2. What Software Do You Use for Cut Only?

I don't. At the time we purchased the Mimaki bundle we had the choice to use the plug-in for Corel or Illustrator. Of course the most logical choice was Corel. Didn't think much about it since. At that time we only had an older version of illy (maybe CS4). I would assume that it is compatible but...
  3. Need Help MIMAKI CG160FX CONTOUR CUT

There are two positions for the blade. Make sure it's in the rear most position unless you are using "half cut"
  4. Corel 2020 - Text size vs actual size way different?!?!

Yes, if just 1 line of text one can input into the physical ht box but what are you going to do for a whole paragraph? Sure you could start by typing 1 line, make your font choice then put in the desired height then type the rest. And if the customer decides to change the font? Now what? I...
  5. Corel 2020 - Text size vs actual size way different?!?!

We do a lot of boat registration numbers that by law have to be of a legible font AND 3" letter height. If you type it out and use the text size input box in corel and type 3" and hit enter. that doesn't make a 3" letter height. You have to look at the physical dimension.
  6. Corel 2020 - Text size vs actual size way different?!?!

Been a complaint in the sign industry for years for both Corel users and illustrator. SignLab has it right but I don't particularly like SignLab and we no longer have that capability. There is a nifty macro available for Corel that will size the text according to the height you input. It's...
  7. Which RIP software do you use ?

    Flexi
  8. What Software Do You Use for Cut Only?

CorelDraw X7 with FineCut 8 for all cutting. Use Flexi as a print RIP only.
  9. Question flexi and corel

Yep, pretty much how we roll but no cloud. Just drop prints right into the Flexi "Hot Folder" and our Print Tech handles it from there. Never a problem with outlines & pdf
  10. Question flexi and corel

You're exporting and then using Flexi to print? I hope you mean exporting directly to Flexi Production Manager for print. No need to open in Flexi and send to print.
  11. Slowing down in February...time to catch my breath

It's the annual start of little league baseball season here. 50 teams. Usually around 30 "team" banners & 30 "sponsor" banners. 1.5 designers. Banners are all hand hemmed and 6 grommets each. Sponsor signs are the same except they also get wind holes. All to be done before opening day on 8...

We do it all day long. 3M IJ35C with laminate gets 3-5 yr.
  13. Life changes post coronavirus? Starting a garden?

There ought to be a type of communal garden whereby "members" tend to it and in return get to harvest just for their needs. Maybe something like his does exist. I have a very small lot in a somewhat urban neighborhood. I have a section of raised beds and various pots I grow veggies in but I'd...
  14. Question Corel Draw Question

There are a plethora of macros for use within corel. I have over a hundred. I didn't know how to code but learned by example and reading. 1 click dimensions swap colors custom spacing crop marks plotter registration marks delete empty layers label colors replace shapes/replace with clones line...

  16. How do you hire?

Unlikely you'd go wrong with retired military. "Retired military" means 20yrs active duty service, already have the best medical insurance and a pension. "Retired military" can still be as young as 38. Disciplined, great work ethics, gets along with others etc. I'm paid pretty well for the area...
  17. How do you hire?

We are situated within close proximity to a major college. We found out that the Graphic Design Instructor tells there students to demand a certain pay. Had a kid come in to inquire about the graphic design position we had open at the time. Tried him out for a couple of days. Came in wearing a...
  18. How do you hire?

Occasionally an Indeed posting and an ad on our street reader board. Problem is the pool of good quality applicants is getting harder and harder to come by. My wife has also experienced this in the hospitality industry too. Not many can pass the mandatory drug test and/or background check. Not...
  19. Script fonts are the best fonts

I have to agree with the assessment that the title makes no sense. In the title you're stating your opinion that script fonts are the best. I had no idea that you were looking for the name of a font. Script fonts have there place but not best in every case. Especially particular script in all...
  20. removing grommets

Signs hang from a Yard Arm with a "rider" also hanging from them hence the grommets at the bottom.
