Most of my work is very short production so I will try a cure by just cutting sufficient for the job off the roll.(No flanges with this secondhand machine).
Media is usually left on the feed rollers and this may cause distortion in the media being "crushed" when it is a full roll. I will store...
Mt sp300v has a similar but more obvious problem in that the head strikes the media and causes smudging. All the usual hints have been tried--heaters, medai too cold-too warm-humidity. The printer is in a warm environment and I am losing faith in the machine. Any help or guidelines would be...
MUTOH 38 FOR PARTSRegards--
Greetings all,
well, I have scrapped the Mutoh.
I failed to identify the problem so I have
dismantled the machine and it is available for
parts to anyone interested.
It resides in the west of Ireland but shipping parts
anywhere would not be a problem

My Rockhopper 38 used to freeze with similar symptoms and was cured by tweaking the low dc voltage up from 4.8 to 5.2v.
You will need a digital voltmeter as the variable "pot" is quite sensitive and the voltage is critical.
Good Luck-

Thank you all for your replies,
I have an appointment with a local Mac dealer during
the week and he may suggest an emulator on the Quadra which
will allow me to use my presen tMac Flexisign and also drive the Roland's Versaworks out of the one computer.

Finbar
Hi
My Mutoh printer has died and I have to replace it with a Roland.
the Versaworks which is Windows driven will not run on my ppc MAC.
I can source an Intel Quadra Mac.
Q. will the ppc Flexi 7.6v2 run on the Intel or can the Intel be partitioned so that I can run the OS 10.3.9 on one partition...
Devahoch:-
I have checked the 3 dc voltages 5, 24,42 and they are all present.
The voltages are dc and smooth (checked on oscilliscope) which indicates that the capacitors are ok in so far as they are smoothing the voltages from the switch-mode power supply board.
Would it be possible that the...
Many thanks for the help.
I will dismantle and examine the board over the weekend.
Any idea where one might get some info on the significance of the LEDs liighting up?
Many thanks,
Finbar
Dead power board
Do the red LEDs that are flashing indicate the failure of adjacent components, be they resistors or capacitors.
I have not carried out any voltage readings yet as per service manual but am trying to narrow down the probable component.
A small area of the board shows some heat...
My 9yr old Rockhopper 38 has died.
All the lights on the control panel light up(not flashing) but the fans don't run and
it does not go thru its initialising sequence.
There are some red leds flashing on the main power board.
Any suggestions?
This problem is a repeat of an occurrance of about a...
Rockhopper dead
The machine failed to power up and initialise. The leds on the control panel are all lit but not flashing.
In the control/main assembly cabined under the machine, the exposed boards show a number of red leds flashing and one constantly red.
This problem occurred a week back but...
Printer stopping
I had a similar problem with a Rockhopper 38
and it was solved by increasing the Power supply voltage
from the (manufacturer's) 4.8 up to 5.2.
There had been a modification to the power board in those
machines but they failed to alter the "pot" setting to give the 5.2 voltage...
Re "cannot open port".
I have this message on occasions with my Flexi and Mutoh setup. I simply disconnect the power supply that feeds the small server that is on the Mutoh comms socket and the machines talk again.

hello irishprinter=
from another "irishprinter".
I received a pdf of the service, not user manual, some time back from a kind gentleman on this forum and when i get the links together i will e-mail it to you.
I have a mutoh rocky for just over 5 years that is suffering capping/maintenance...
As a relatively long time user/sufferer of a mutoh rockhopper 38/falcon i now ask the question----- should one force the heads into a parking position and wedge them in that position?
One wedges them so when syphoning in order to "draw" ink-----
would the heads be better parked tightly over the...

The MUTOH, according to its manual will"occasionally carry out an automatic cleaning cycle" and leaves one with the option of doing a cleaning cycle as one wishes.
On a servicing vein---any ideas where I could obtain a service/maintainence manual for a Mutoh 38.
I have followed many "links"...

Hometown Ballina is just 10 miles from Pontoon and like most Mayo people I have climbed Croagh Patrick (4 times) for my sins---and had the views from the summit as a bonus.
