I'll try to contact I-R again. Thank you.
  3. Need Help Ingersoll-Rand Sprayer

I purchased their 200G sprayer. Typically for Ingersoll-Rand tools, It came with a lot of information—except how to set up and use the tool. Mainly, there is a male fitting at the bottom of the handle. I assume an air hose attaches there. If so, what kind, size, etc. Thanks very much.
  4. Suggestions Alternative Vendor to Gemini

Mostly to make custom acrylic letters. Suggested companies should be professional, reliable, cost-effective, and with reasonable turnaround and delivery. We would prefer not to do business in China. Thank you.
  5. Font help please

I think it's closer to Haettenschweiler or Impact. In any case, it's been altered. You'll need to convert the type to outlines, add a stroke, "squish" it in a bit (side-to-side), and shear (all in.ai). Here's quick version…
  6. Cut Vinyl graphics not sticking to customer's wall!!! Help!

You may have solved the problem, but… our experience has been that a newly-painted surface should cure for at least two weeks—preferably one month (depending upon climate). You may want to try priming with Stix primer, let it set for the recommended time, recoat with (as mentioned below) a...
  7. Want to Buy Daige Solo 25" Cold Laminator

New or gently used. I'll pick up anything <100 miles from Greenwich, Connecticut. Otherwise, include shipping. Thanks.
  8. A Laminator Suitable for Application Tape

Any suggestions? Is there a recommended cold-lamination machine (Xylon?) that may be used to apply application tape to cut/weeded vinyl? Thanks.
  9. "Street Sign" Post

I considered aluminum, but think it would be hard to cut for the mortise for the horizontal piece. Also the client doesn't want to see the kinds of fasteners that would secure that piece externally.
  10. "Street Sign" Post

Looking for a resource for a post, 4" x 4" x (at least) 12 feet. It will be set 2' in concrete footing. Must be weatherproof, non-warping, paintable, and machineable. Must be able to accept a through-mortise "paddle" approx. 50" x 1.5" (thickness) x 6". Wood? If so, what variety? We'll be...
  11. Paint Vinyl Techniques

For an indoor installation, if the exact color we are looking for is not available, what is a recommended paint? There are actually many good colors available as "art" (that is, graffiti) colors in art supply stores, but I'd have to test for good adhesion, durability, etc. Acrylics? I think my...
  12. Clean/Polish Installed Vinyl

Heat gun Yes, I think I'll practice a bit first…
  13. Clean/Polish Installed Vinyl

Can anyone recommend a product to remove squeegee marks from large areas of installed gloss black vinyl (Oracal 651), and yes, I should have used a felt squeegee)? The substrate is smooth Sintra. I did not notice this problem with the other colors on the same piece. Thanks very much.
  14. Install Signs Level and Perpendicular on Clapboard Siding

@TimToad and Billct2. Yes, famous for over thinking, usually at 3 a.m. Anyway, thanks very much for the very good solutions, drawings, etc. which I'll definitely try next time out— though I will prime the heck out of that MDO.
  15. Install Signs Level and Perpendicular on Clapboard Siding

@Moze. Thanks for your reply. The problem is that one course of boards overlays the next causing an angle equal to the thickness of the previous course. So any material used as a spacer/shim is necessarily at that angle (I'm working n a drawing of this) and not perpendicular.
  16. Install Signs Level and Perpendicular on Clapboard Siding

This being New England, we often have to install a sign on clapboard siding. We frequently use aluminum cleats for a nice appearance. This means we have to shim out the cleat that goes on the building, which, in addition to not being the strongest installation, is a lot of extra work. Short of...
  17. Install Large Graphics Solo

Looking for tips to install large (54˝ x 36˝) calendared vinyl graphics, bubble/wrinkle-free, on windows. Sometimes I'm without an assistant (it ain't that easy, even then). I usually peel back the first inch or so of backing, adhere that (dry), and peel the rest of the backing about a foot at a...
  18. Super tape removal - HELP!!!!

Next time, if you have any doubt about the paint job (or even if not) you might consider using 3M Dual-Lock or Z-clips (brooklynhardware.com has nice ones). Mechanical fastening all the way. Even if they do pull out when removed, you only need patch a few screw holes. You might try removing the...
  19. Paint Mask Help

I originally posted this in the wrong place. Sorry. Anyway… I've been experimenting with paint-masking vinyl for larger graphics. However, even with heavy burnishing, some paint (applied with a fine foam roller) always seeps under the mask, and the result is unsatisfactory. I've tried the Avery...
