  1. Printing RGB photos on CMYK printer

Disregard Bob's post. Aside from the first line the rest is complete nonsense. Your rip certainly does not convert RGB into arbitrary CMYK values. FrankW is correct. The negative effect he talks about when converting to CMYK is generally caused by selecting a CMYK colorspace that has a...
  2. Worst Tech Support Ever!!!

BJ- I am sorry our initial conversation resulting in such a negative reaction. I am glad to hear that installing media configurations from www.wasatch.com is now producing output to your liking. Ultimately I think that investing in the tools required to build your own profiles or hiring a...
  3. hp8000 and windows 7

Not always the case. A printer like the HP 8000 is USB only, this means all rips relay on the manufacturer to provide a USB driver at the OS level, or at least provide documentation on how to write their own. Much like older JV3's require a firewire driver, etc.
  4. Thoughts on this RIP setup?

Sean- The operating system is what matters related to addressing over 4GB of memory. Wasatch installed on a 64-bit OS can use > 4GB - I currently run with 8GB of memory with no issue. Bryan
  5. Caldera Visual Cut

Nathan- Check out page 92 of the Summa S Class User's Manual (Rev 009c). It explains the barcode workflow much better than I could here. With pictures even. I am not familiar with Onyx or Caldera, but Wasatch works lovely with barcodes and the Summa devices. I was pretty excited about this...
  6. HP L26500 and L28500

Removed, not thinking clearly today. Bryan
  7. HP L26500 and L28500

Check out the image at this link -> http://h10088.www1.hp.com/cda/gap/display/main/index.jsp?zn=gap&cp=20000-13698-16013-15259-27897^357437_4041_100__ Bryan
  8. HP L26500 and L28500

Anyone else notice some of the images of the L26500 have the ink carts on the left side of the printer (link the L25500) and some of the ink carts on the right side. Can someone confirm which image is correct? Bryan
  9. Communication Problem Help!

Most firewall programs will have an 'exclusion' list or something similar. Add the IP address to your HP to this list and you should be fixed. I'm sure AVG has documentation on adding an IP address or URL to be excluded from scanning. Bryan
  10. Communication Problem Help!

+1 to Casteks's comment. Rather tricky to troubleshoot that issue. There is a control for limiting Avast to only check traffic to common browsers and not check any other programs. If you enable this control the issues related to communications were resolved, at least with Wasatch. Although...
  11. Need Some Help Please

John- You need to create that 'Generic Text/only' printer in Windows. From the Start menu select Printer and Faxes. Then click the Add Printer button. When prompted for which port make sure to select the correct USB virtual port that was created when you plugged in the printer. After the...
  12. Creating ICC Profiles

Ryan- Regarding profiling with Wasatch, see the following link -> http://wasatch.com/profiling_with_pss_tech_note.html <- If you have any questions feel free to post here once you get started. Profiling is not terribly difficult to get 'reasonable' results. The tricky part is getting...
  13. which printer is better, mimaki, mutoh, roland?

As I had to order one of those heads today, around $100 or so. They are plug in, easy to get in and out. Although you need to be careful, lost some air on my arm due to the curing heater. Painful printer at times. Bryan
  14. Setting Up Epson 7600 in Wasatch

Jordan- It sounds like you have the correct driver configured. I would guess the issue is related to the imaging configuration ('profile') you have selected. What media are you printing on? Are you using a profile from www.wasatch.com? I would suggest trying different profiles if you can't...
  15. Xerox Will No Longer Sell Wide-Format Equipment in North America

I think those models are mostly sold in South America. Bryan
  16. Confused About Color Management

The answer to this question is, there are many different CMYK. Your Photoshop settings are probably configured to some SWOP CMYK. SWOP is typically a small gamut CMYK. If you used the output profile from your printer as the CMYK working space in Photoshop you would see different results...
  17. isolating GE (gloss enhancer) on the z series printers

Not much of a straight path for the media. I haven't looked at our z3200 in a while. I will double check tomorrow when I get in the office and let you know. As for the gloss enhancer, if you just want to print gloss and not any other channel I think Wasatch would work for you. Bryan
  18. double cutline

Both of x2chris7x comments above are spot on and what I was planning on posting. The first suggestion is easy to spot, when you save and a transparency is in play Illy should give you a warning about transparencies and spot colors. Bryan
  19. Color transform: Digital mezzotint, PostScript Screens, Advanced Screens, etc...??

Advanced Screens and PostScript Screens are AM screening. Think offset press or screen printing. Most likely not for you. Digital Mezzotint is a FM (stochastic) screening but not as efficient during ripping as Precision Stochastic. I would recommend using the Precision Stochastic Screens...
  20. Hey, what happened to my printer properties

Deep Six- I believe the control you are talking about is 'Time Between Passes (sec)'. In Colorip go to Print -> Setup -> Edit -> Properties. The control should be on the first tab that is visible. Set the value to be the time you want to delay before the next pass starts. Bryan
