Yeah, being nicer didn't work either.:ROFLMAO:
OH man, I love that guy! Enough humor for years of material!Um..... I'll take Mosh for 1000. Taking into consideration every single post he has made is absolute bullsh*t.
Carry on.
I can understand that Gino, And this isn't aimed at you, but since you answered my question I'm quoting your post. But just as an example let's look at the original post again to see if he merits this response.Ya know, I don’t mind newbies coming or going…. it’s the attitude that kinda stinks.
Is there a good resource for learning the lingo and methods for making banners? I'm about to jump in with a start up as operations manager and I'm new to everything. I hear words like substrate and backing tape and wonder, "what the heck is substrate (I've since figured it out)." I'm excited because I'm a creative person and I love making things. I know I can be good at this, but I just need a little guidance to begin with before I jump in. We will probably be making a lot of basic vinyl banners at first and then jump in pretty quickly to full color stuff. I know we'll have good equipment and the right resources from a hardware perspective, I just need some of the universal knowledge about banners and such to get me started. Thanks for the help.
I like just bought the best hammer and saw there is. I think I will start building houses. Can someone tell me how to do it, I know I will be good at it, I like making things. I know soon I will be building mansions.

Well one of the things I would suggest is to not always use a horizontal layout in a banner, to break it up with the use of panels.
Don't go overboard with special effects just because you have a printer.
Don't use cheap banner material even tho they are only a temporary sign.
Don't give them away cheap either.

(just a few general banner answers)
This forum is a business. Each member has an opportunity to contribute $ to the well being of the owners lifestyle. Members voting on whether the owner can earn money from another member has no merit here. So, looking something up for yourself isn’t always the best advice, but I still think we should have some sort of a greeting committee. Not let newbies interact until they have grown some thicker skin and if they still want in after a required time limit…. we vote or something similar to see if they should be accepted. I don’t know of an organization, club or collection of people that don’t do things in some sort or similar means.
The same people always seem to reply to these kind of threads.
If you don't feel like being helpful, don't say anything. Don't you people have shops to run, instead of starting a flame war with a total stranger?
There's a lot of curmudgeony attitudes in here to anyone new in the industry. Not everyone can be an autodidact right out of the gate and might need some gentle guidance.
It just gets old that EVERY new person that comes here must show their bona fides or take it in the &^#$ for even considering becoming a signmaker without 22 years of experience... this is not the old brush days where you found someone to apprentice under then maybe - just maybe - if you were good enough you went out on your own. No matter how much some wish it could be.
