US Tariffs, Sigh!

Funny how we've become used to being treated sub-human, being called Nazi's, Magats, Motherf*ckers, the list goes on. I was told to go die, my kids should be removed from my home, etc. I was afraid to put up my American Flag outside. I'm afraid to say anything in public. I'm still afraid to post on FB or any social media. I had a Trump flag hanging in my garage and the neighbor saw it and won't talk to me anymore. I was told by my Realtor to remove any and all indications that I may have voted Trump or I will lose 50% of any buyers. I asked her if she has issues the other way - she said no, never one. People might comment or chuckle but they will still buy.
didn't we ALL learn in Kindergarten that calling people names was unproductive? I think both of your sides are guilty of this....

try using plain facts without any name-calling and see how productive of a conversation you can have... both sides simply saying the other is name-calling seems to be to be a ploy to keep people aggravated and focusing on each other rather than on the real issues causing problems.

I learned it, some people didn't LOL Trump is good for name calling also, you are correct.

I've had a lot of conversations with my best friend who is an old school Bill Clinton Democrat. Her views are 90% the same as mine but she just hates Trump, period. I can tell her all the facts I want, and I do - doesn't matter, she hates him and she won't vote for him or support him. She is coming around to DOGE and thinks its a good idea. I sent her the website and she did some research. She's in HR and has hired A LOT of immigrants, who are here legally. She didn't see the "illegal" side of things until she talked to her boss from California and he told her about all the gang problems they have by the border with TDA. Now she's changing her mind on immigration!

Yes, one can absolutely have civilized conversations with others. She will never vote Trump but she MIGHT vote Republican next time! I have 3 years to lay out my case...

If you remove all the adjectives, slants, useless baggage and emotions, you might get to the REAL meat of the matter. Most people bring too much to the conversation and it clouds their eyes, then their minds.

We just put a sign up for a state representative and my helper had a brief discussion with her and I know they don't/didn't see eye to eye on just about anything, but no harm was done...... so, I think I'll still get paid.

Heck, let's just send in a group text our top secret operational war plans to a random journalist on a public platform. Pete Hegseth for Secretary of Defense?? Do you folks read, or just listen to what Murdoch spills? Amateurs at work.

If this proves to be true, the President will have a few more security clearances to pull.

White House already confirmed it to be true. I'm betting $5 no one involved will face any real consequence.... I'd also put a $100 down on every administration has people who do stuff like this, these guys just got caught.

top secret operational war plans
Look, folks, JD and Pete—great guys, very smart—they weren’t talking about plans, okay? They were talking about concepts of plans. Big difference. Huge. And let me tell you, these concepts, they’re going to be rolled into the actual plans—beautiful plans, by the way. But here’s the thing: they brought in the journalist. Why? Because they wanted to show just how serious they are. And they are very serious. Believe me.

It's all a ruse. Carney is playing the game as he is being coached. When the coach says get a goal, you get a goal (paraphrasing Phil Esposito)! And the goal for the Liberal Party of Canada is to win the next federal election at any cost. And to continue down the road with detrimental policies that make the wealthy wealthier and to make life even more desperate for the rest of Canadians. The Liberal Party of Canada doesn't want the tariffs to go away as this is an easy way of making more off the backs of Canadians and Canadian businesses. Same with the Carbon Tax, like a skunk hiding in plain sight behind a rose...it may look pretty but it still stinks.

A recent survey shows that Canada's real growth GDP is 1.7% (vs US at 18.2%). We can thank excessive immigration, short sighted energy policies, increased taxes, and excessive and wasteful government spending at all levels with little or no real benefit to 99.99% of Canadians. All of this while Canadians still try to crawl out of from the Covid pit.

Pete Hegseth? Isn't he one of them DUI hires I've been hearing so much about lately?

Don't worry though, it's actually really funny.
Love Trump but I'm not a fan of Hegseth. I don't think he's going to be there the entire 4 years.

Something about him like, he goes home at night and cries, or he's going to crumble under pressure, he's inflated his abilities. I understand he has an excellent military record but...IDK...there's a mental health red flag there for me. Can't put my finger on it.

I just got this email from JDS. Pricing is going up even on USA produced products due to "Market Conditions" I thought the whole point of these Tariffs was to bring production back to the USA which will lower prices, or did I get that wrong?

March 26, 2025

We are all hearing about tariffs daily in the news now, so I thought I would let you know where things stand with us at this time so you can have the information to help you plan ahead. Right now there are really only two tariff increases that will affect our product pricing. First is the 20% increase to all products coming from China. This will have a very big impact in our industry due to the high amount of products currently being made in China. This 20% tariff increase started earlier in March, so we have been paying this extra duty for three weeks now.

The second tariff increase that will affect our pricing is the additional 25% tariff on aluminum and steel products. This 25% is on top of the 20% on items from China, so really a 45% increase. The list of items being hit by this 45% is not real large right now it looks like. It includes our Ultra sheet stock metal products for lasering and sublimation, Stand-offs for plaques and signage and trophy hardware such as ferrules, couplers and hexnuts. Rods are also made of steel, but we have ours produced in the USA now, so no tariff impact on them right now. Our brokers are still looking at sports medals and metal insert holders, they are made of metal, but not specifically aluminum or steel, so we are waiting on final opinion on these items. Price increases may not be for the full amount of the tariff increases. We will be working with our vendors to see if they are able to provide any price adjustments for us so that we can go up less than the 20% and 45%.

There will also be indirect impacts of the changes on tariffs. Do not assume that just because a product is made in the US that it will not go up in price. I already have 6 domestic vendors that have announced price increases. Some of the items have foreign content in them which were affected by the tariffs. Other items are going up due to market conditions such as increased orders at domestic factories so they are raising their prices. Most likely we will see more of these as time goes on this year. Aluminum, brass and brass plated steel sheet stock for example is all made in the US, however we have already been told to expect 5-25% price increases on our next order at this factory.

More tariffs are expected to be announced April 2nd as well. These will likely include many other countries with Vietnam being one that will affect several items our industry uses now. Tariffs in general will continue to be unstable and unpredictable in the future it looks like, so it is highly likely there will be more price increases necessary in 2025. It is our expectation that we will be increasing pricing due to the initial tariffs in late April. Once we have decided on a date we will send out a notice to allow our customers to place some orders to ship ahead of the price changes. I continue to encourage customers to not commit to future pricing on products to your customers due to the changing price environment we are in this year.

In case you would really like to hear what happened with that text, you can visit the senate hearing today. They will be talking about it.
So, What'd ya think? especially now that they released the full chat convo.... It seems to me that the information was "classified".. or should be classified by default since it was an upcoming strike.

Just watched the white House press secretary say it's all a smear campaign because the reporters a registered Democrat... And that nothing in the chat was classified, because hegseth says so... so it's not a big deal.

Seems like a major screw up to me, most press will publish anything asap to get the scoop on the story, if this guy published an article that he got word an attack would be happening in 30 mins.... It coulda (would have) put a lot of soldiers lives in jeopardy, or at best put the Yemen people on alert and ruin the mission.

I think it's just as bad that the journalist stuck around and didn't point out he was in the group convo that contained such information... And only pointed it out after it was over...

It'll be interesting to see who invited Goldberg and why though. I don't see why hegseth would have Goldberg's number in his phone to even accidently invite him, something seems fishy!

Best Regards,
Just wait until the 25% tarrifs go into effect....

It looks like even Tesla uses a ton of Canadian parts in their vehicles, I'm betting the auto tarrifs are on for a day and then go off again.

What do you think will happen with the tariffs that China has on Canada?
Same thing that's happening to the USA/Canada ones. It's just a tax on the people....looks like Canada hasn't retaliated so far.... But that's probably because the liberals realize fighting a war on 2 fronts is dumb, I'm hoping we get rid of the tarrifs and China does too.... I know we did the aluminum / steel tarrifs on China to appease USA.... I'd say in the current climate, we shouldn't be trying to appease them so it should be lifted.

We put a 25% tarrif on aluminum and steel from china... Before covid we paid $105 for a 5x10 sheet of aluminum, it's currently at $185 right now....close to double, it's not Canada or China paying those additional fees.... It's our business, and then our customers since it gets passed onto them. Tarrifs are a tax on the regular people... That's why in most cases they're bad.

Best Regards,

labor in us is good, but it is too expensive, that is the reason US companies go to other countries overseas to reduce cost production and have a bigger profit....... but seems that many people are blinded to see this.
