  1. Plastic cover for U-channel Post

Thin wall PVC pipe. Yellow paint. White reflective vinyl. Zip-tie to u-channel.
  2. Reprint for free?

I wouldn't provide either of those options - unless he was paying for them. You sent him a proof and he approved it. If the finished product is not what he wanted, then he should never have given you his approval to print the layout as it was presented to him. Of course, if he wants to pay to...
  3. Seeking ADA/Interior Architectural Signage Vendor

I'm pretty certain that this isn't from Vista Systems. Vista always has their end caps included in the drawings they present as that is part of the look of their sign frames. I do believe that Vista produces sign faces wholesale w/o their frames. Where I work we do almost all of our ADA work...
  4. Horrifying and stuck on this logo

    Or Comic Sans.
  5. Mounting Brackets For 6mm MAXMETAL

You'll cover up a lot of space on either side of the sign panel using those Grimco brackets. I would screw a length of aluminum T-bar extrusion to either post and then affix the sign panels to either side of the extrusion w/ VHB.
  6. permanent office signs

I agree about that being a thermoformed faceplate. We produce 99% our own ADA work w/ either Rowmark or photopolymer but we've had to provide thermo signs for a couple of projects and we procured them from Graphic Components (www.graphiccomponents.com) out of Greensboro, NC.
  7. Is this new............................................. ??

There's a very simple explanation for the seemingly arbitrary decisions made by Architectural Review Boards: The members are ordinary citizens who are given power when granted the position so they use that power at every opportunity they can. I would bet money that the ARB member in question...
  8. NOW HIRING ISSUE

$24 to flip burgers??? Where in the country do you call home?? I make less than that (not by much but still) after 25 years as a designer - and I know that my employer is in the top three for what companies pay for designers in my area. I REALLY like what I do and can't think of much else...
  9. Calling out size- height 1st, length 2nd?

You call out all measurements only in inches? So, if you have a sign that is 15'-3" high, you call it out as 183" high - and your customers understand that their sign is 15'-3" high? If you had a 62'-11" long banner, would you still use only inches to notes it as 635"? And then to use decimals...
  10. Looking for Embossed sign

I know, about 17-20 years ago, I used to get a 'doming gel' from (I think) Coastal Enterprises that accomplished exactly what you're describing. Of course, I'm not sure if CE is the correct company, and I'm not sure if it's still available, but, if you can find it, you will have your solution.
  11. VHB or screws? Hmmm....

We always use silicone in conjunction w/ VHB in situations such as this but, if that's not an option and you are concerned about the VHB sticking to the steel you could, though it adds to the cost, mechanically fasten aluminum tubing to the steel and then affix the sign faces to the tubing w/...
  12. This is a first....

I've received plenty of raster images saved as PDF, AI & EPS files but, in my 25 years, I've never had a customer send a screenshot saved as a PDF. Even if I tried to, I don't think I could have thought about that happening. I will say, when I receive a raster & tell the customer the cost to...
  13. Question Ear Damage from Printers

With the noise-cancelling enabled, it can be difficult but it's still possible to hear people talk. The ANC works, in my opinion, to block out the background noises like machinery power tools, etc. but not direct noises like someone talking to you and you can always turn off the ANC or take them...
  14. Question Ear Damage from Printers

I have a pair of Mpow Noise-Cancelling headphones that are amazing. They work very well w/ just music playing but, when I turn on the ANC, it's like being in the cone of silence. This is my third pair and the ones I have used all worked wonders and were very cost-effective (maybe ±$30 on...
  15. Texans may not want to print today....

Nothing happening here in GA besides it being crazy cold (for down here - not for this transplanted Yankee) & some wet roads from the rain storms yesterday. The closed some schools due to fears of black ice but the road temps never dropped low enough to cause that.
  16. How do you hire?

So, if you start paying new hires $20/hour, what do you do for your existing employees who are either making less than that or have put in the years to earn whatever pay they make? I make ±$25/hour after 25 years in the industry & 10 years at my company & I believe our new un-trained helpers...
  17. looking for corrugated plastic - NOT coroplast

If my memory is working today, I believe those faces are made from V3 fiberglass. I now there are vendors on-line that you can purchase them from.
  18. Question Custom Branded Bathroom sign

I guess I should have been more specific and prefaced my comment by saying "Federal law; i.e. the Americans with Disabilities (ADA) Act of 1990 (most recently updated in 2010), as noted in the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design, does not require pictograms to be tactile." Besides...
  19. HandCrafted HDU sign

That's a beautiful sign. I so wish I had the skills to carve and whatnot, but I don't. It's okay tho because I'm very content - and my creative genes are fulfilled - by being the designer so gentlemen like yourself can do what I'm not able to. :) What is the overall size?
