Can you try cutting multi-pass and see if just cutting the surface first helps at all? (Assuming you can do multi-pass on a Colex)
These are direct printed or have vinyl applied to them?
Just bought a lifetime license to this software for cheap on AppSumo (awesome site btw if you don't like subscription models).

Looks pretty interesting so far... spent the last couple of days playing around with it and I think it's going to come in really handy.
Going to...
Impressive project for less than a grand! Wish I had time (and the brains) to tinker with machines like this. Love the idea of building Frankenstein setups like this that cost a fraction of what the brand names charge.
Keep the updates coming!
I wonder why they make it so complicated to use it for cut only. We've got a 54" Summa plotter I'd love to use for cut-only jobs but haven't been able to due to the cutserver "workflow".
I'm not familiar with cheap Chinese printers, but the other option would be for you to buy a spectrophotometer, learn to use it, and create profiles and run calibrations yourself.
This would cost more than $2500 and would take significantly more time, but you would then have the luxury of being...
I would find out exactly how up to date their drivers are for that new printer.
When we first got our UCJV300 - Onyx had JUST started supporting it and it took us a full day with a tech to create just (1) custom profile. (At our expense) It gets complicated when you start introducing spot...
I personally prefer owning software. Especially when it comes to Onyx Thrive. Every few years when they add valuable features we'll upgrade if we see fit. Last time we upgraded to 22.5, it came w/ a year of Onyx Advantage so I'm hoping that will cover "free" upgrade to v24 when it comes out...
Could you not create multiple artboards (one for each window pane) and then arrange them with proper sizing and spacing for mullions, then export all to PDF?
Why not? I edit them all the time. Bring them in to waste less material, change sheet size etc. I've found that as long as you have enough marks you can do whatever you want with them.
Agreed, but don't forget that new models usually rely on users to beta test them, then iron out the kinks.
Faster version of the UCJV300 would be nice. We've considered switching ours over to dual CMYK to speed it up a bit as we barely use the white.
So you through cut the letters on your laser then glue in place onto backer panel?
Is there any risk of doing it this way vs hogging out a thicker sheet?
