  2. Question My first poll - retail store?

As I am looking at it, if the public can enter your shop and potential do business with you, then I would consider that retail. If you have a different perspective, I am open
  3. Question My first poll - retail store?

This is the first of several polls that I will be creating to help me better understand the audience here at Signs101. Any pointers or suggestions will be appreciated.
  4. Shop your wholesalers

Sure, you can continue ordering online. My intent is only to encourage building a stronger one-to-one relationship with him. If he does fix a problem, send him a personal thank you note.
  5. Shop your wholesalers

He is the branch supervisor. The next time you place a phone in order, ask for him. Then, send him a personal thank you note through first class mail. Slowly but gently build a relationship with him. If he will let you, only place orders with him. If he happens to be busy, wait and phone back...

Do you maybe know Kevin Walton at Glantz?

  8. Business Management - videos about your talented team

First time didn't work. I tried to get the link into my media, but it is not working.
  9. Business Management - videos about your talented team

Well, let me respond with two potential ideas. First, I am willing to give you a few quick lessons on how to make your own videos. You already have enough equipment, your smart phone or tablet. Second, I am in a free sample mode, so why not give it a try. One of my clients showed me an email...
  10. Business Management - videos about your talented team

A BIG thank you for "weighing in." It means a lot to me. Let me respond to the matters you raise. First of all, "developing a revenue stream" is way in the back of my mind. Right now I am in a free sample mode. (I digress - have you ever heard the story about how PostIt got started? I had the...
  11. Installing 25' x 25' mesh banners between columns

Based on my own experience with sign makers having to spend more money on a ripped custom banner project, I simply offered Andy D something to consider for this very large project.
  12. Installing 25' x 25' mesh banners between columns

Andy D If I were in your shoes, I would spell it out in writing and have them sign off with a full signature. Maybe even record a verbal understanding. Why? Because if those banners rip to shreds, they are going to come after you to replace them. Or, they will write bad reviews about you. I know...
  13. Business Management - videos about your talented team

The first item of interest, has anyone made personalized videos focussed on your talented team members? If so, please tell us about them. Maybe include the video in your post. Secondly, if you are already making some sort of videos about your sign making, do they maybe incidentally include...
  14. Looking for recommendations: mounting tape, semi-permanant (12mo)

As Moze recommended, the 3M Command Strips are definitely worth checking out.
  15. Installing 25' x 25' mesh banners between columns

Let's focus on just the sides. Eye bolts every two feet would be better. The 25 length means that one would only be one foot apart. The D Rings would have the same spacing, with tape, as Johnny Best mentioned. Now, let's focus on the top and bottom. The steel cable in a pole pocket should work...
  16. Looking for recommendations: mounting tape, semi-permanant (12mo)

The 12 months part is what makes this very challenging. Check out Velcro - removable mounting tape. Check the different strengths, i.e., "Holds 2lbs","Holds 5lbs" etc. Check with Cody Martin on his offer for Orafol tape. Especially the removable part.
  17. Installing 25' x 25' mesh banners between columns

Several tips. Reinforce the corners. Have heavy rope sewn in to any edge that is not attached to support. As Johnny Best said, see if they can sew in strapping. His recommend every 5' is a great idea. Just in case, on half moon wind slits, that is just inviting a rip. Are you able to get 10oz...
  18. Installing 25' x 25' mesh banners between columns

What Johnny Best is recommending is very important. Are you able to tell if there might ever be much wind in that location?
  19. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Notarealsignguy, That "risk" is a major part of my even bringing up the query for everyone on s101 to at least think about. It seems to me that if a sales person uses some version of the query, then hopefully that might reduce the "risk." Thank you for bringing up "you may never realize...
  20. When a potential client begins to introduce a new project.

Jester1167 Thank you for your opinion. From my perspective, your answer to my question shows that I have a long way to go to help people like you to understand what I truly want to accomplish. Maybe someday I might get a little closer. Robert Armerding
