How bad is the orange and red fading on the 80600? We're looking at one for the expanded gamut. Most of what we produce is only outdoors for 1-3 years, so not sure how bad any possible fading will effect us.
From memory this is what our VS-640 uses, although you'll have to double check whether it fits the XC-540.

That's true for GPU's but not so much for RAM. The only special sauce baked into ECC memory is the error correction. Memory clock speed is typically lower for ECC memory compared to Non-ECC.
Who are you buying through? We've been getting some quotes on an S80600 but haven't been getting that low on inks. I know your volume is probably higher than ours but I'm curious.

From memory it's because of halftones set to Error Diffusion as default, rather than Dither as with Versaworks. It's a little slower, but if you've got the time and CPU horsepower it does make a difference in output quality.
Just double check that you're running the latest firmware. I know the local Roland dealer here was having some issues with erratic movement, but it was fixed in a firmware update.
