  1. So you can trademark color? Who knew?

I don't think the court said you can trade mark a color. They said Aio couldn't use the plum because: it was found that during the vetting stage, they basically were attempting to get close to the colors of their competition in the design phase. Trademarking a color would be like trademarking...
  2. How bad did I do!! Shop van wrap design.

Wham, Bam, simple, in-yo-face, less is more. That's awesome Biker.
  3. Fair Banner Printing Pricing.

When I worked in my brother in law's shop in So Cal, we used to get $8.25 sft. for banners. That was over a decade ago and not everyone could afford a large format printer either. I'd lower my prices to $3.50 a sq.ft. if it kept it running all day long. But that's not the case. I'm priced...
  4. Will they never learn?

The real loss isn't to people who liked his acting. He should be no more important to us than the guy down the street who dies. You know who he was VERY important to...his 3 children. That's what breaks my heart. They are the ones with the huge loss. They have no daddy to help them as they grow...
  5. Hey Fellers and Montroy.

This will be my first time on this crazy thread. 1. I am comforted a little to know you have to log in to see prices again. 2. Putting forth arguments about something or showing why you think another's argument is wrong is great. 3. To start slinging derogatives at someone who disagrees with you...
  6. Realtree camo patterns

    yep...looks so dumb.
  7. a heat gun for me?

It's impossible to achieve correct vinyl temps by a setting on a heat gun. That changes with • Distance you hold the gun • Duration you stay in one spot • Heating areas on plastic vs fiberglass vs steel vs aluminum etc. So that is why a setting on the gun won't guarantee anything. The ONLY...
  8. Average Square foot pricing for vehicle wraps

Contrary to what most of these folks are saying...there are wraps you can figure by the sq.ft. Trailers, walls, etc. Flat surfaces are often figured by the sq.ft.
  9. Averege $/hr for wrapper in the US

Agree with you on most of it. But smaller shops aren't paying $600 per wrap to cover :ink, waste, building, utilities, color proof, sales time, rip, print, laminate, trim. IF they are doing a wrap a day...that's $12,000. Ink and waste are part of the $600 material cost. Many sales come from...
  10. versaworks / crop marks with trim marks

If you're talking about the contour cut lines from your design program, they won't show up in the print from Versaworks if you created them with the right color setup before exporting. Human error. We've done it too.
  11. Realtree camo patterns

Trucks we've done in Bushwolf's "Oak Ambush". Compare the pattern to the Realtree one above.
  12. Averege $/hr for wrapper in the US

Nah, An employee can load the material, and start the print running in less than 10 minutes. Laminating also takes 10 minutes if it's loaded straight. I'm not paying someone $1,150 to do that. So...it's still over $2,000 profit per vehicle. Maybe tack on some other stuff like electricity and...
  13. How do you guys heat your shops in the winter time?

Perhaps buy a latex printer? muahaha
  14. Averege $/hr for wrapper in the US

Bottom line: Vehicle wraps have a dollar value. The installation being such an important part of that product, has a dollar value. Calling BS on $52K a year for a good installer shows, at best, your ignorance. If a wrap costs $3000 on average with $600 material costs that's a profit of $2,400...
  15. 'Need your input regarding 3M wrap combo

Using 3M or Avery I can install wraps with less headache in less time. I don't have the same dilemma you do because that EASILY justifies the additional (at most) $200 material cost. You need to reconsider your pricing if that cost difference is forcing you to use inferior tools that make your...
  16. Website pricing

Who claimed they were on the level of "multithousand dollar" range??? The point is they are well under a thousand dollars and you get good design and high functionality with the ability to self edit and resell...for affordable pricing. Sheesh
  17. Roland Unreliable and Expensive

An overwhelming majority of Roland customers seem to demonstrate your machine is the exception to the rule. Your problem should have been deemed systemic after the 2nd board change with no Roland techs knowing the "cause". I'm almost certain Roland has less "problem machines" than the other...
  18. Averege $/hr for wrapper in the US

I'm in KY now but used to work at a sign shop in San Bernardino and we used a dad and brothers for installs as well. Probably the same ones...drive a van. Bill was one of their names.
  19. Website pricing

Not sure what you think is cheesy about them but I have to completely disagree. I'm surprised someone in this industry would say they are cheesy when they are nicely done and highly functional. And that's not just because I'm a client of theirs. They also do custom designs. ie. www.kywraps.com
  20. Lost half of the magenta

Check the dampers. Cheap and easy replacement.
