As already mentioned, buy by the skid and only handle with gloves. Even then you can still run into issues with light colors if you're running a finicky inkset but it GREATLY reduces the risk.
We've always used 50/50 isopropyl and water with varying results. (Thanks for the potion recipe...
What perf/lam are you using? This can definitely be caused by having too much tension on the laminator.
The tack is so low on perf that it doesn't take much for it to fail along the edges like that.
I've found Oraguard 210 to be very unstable, so it doesn't surprise me.
Now that I think of it, we've had lots of extra decals stored flat in drawers curl up when they were laminated with 210 gloss. (It will also fail over time after being applied to vehicles etc. That's why we stopped using...
The same way that a pvc/pressure sensitive overlaminate can. Or clearshield/frogjuice/whatever other brand of clearcoat. You're adding something between the ink and the elements.
High-volume companies use coaters all the time I'm sure, it's way cheaper/faster than using pressure sensitive...
Yeah I wouldn't put one of those units in my house. Coming home from a full day of printing (not even in the same room/area as my office) I can still smell ink on all my clothes and change them before picking up our baby.
To the OP - I'd be more concerned about fumes before worrying about...
As far as I understand how the touchstone process works, it knows once it's built up enough ink and it adjusts the head height accordingly.
They seem to claim you can on their website and documents. I'd be really curious to hear if anyone is actually producing ADA compliant signs with one of...
I think I saw somewhere on your list something along the lines of quickdimensions? Is that something that can be purchased?
I've spent so much time sending proofs with tons of specs and dimensions over the last month and absolutely hate the coreldraw dimension tool settings. (You'd think I'd...
How do the bottom of your heads look?
We had a similar issue recently and it turned out the wiper hadn't been making contact with the heads for a couple of months. (Don't ask me how this is possible, no one knows)
It resulted in black streaking like you've shown (not quite as bad though)...
I would ask whoever is printing the job to weed and mask it for you that way your customer is getting a professional looking decal and don't have to rig up some kind of hokey set up just to install it.
Good to know, thanks! I remember hearing about the 215DU when they came out with it but I don't personally use/trust Oraguard calendared laminates.
I'll check that Mactac one out though.
