  1. Logo for my hobby

So I finally made time last evening and played with the logo a bit more. I made some minor tweaks to the lettering for more pleasing aesthetics, but I don't want to totally lose the handwritten feel of it. I also set up a version for smaller sizes with thicker lines for better legibility. Yes...
  2. Logo for my hobby

I am purposely holding back telling you guys the name, because I find if I know what something says, I will easily be able to read it. I fiddled with the letters a bit more, hoping to increase legibility. I personally like the one on the left, but it does sacrifice legibility a bit.
  3. Logo for my hobby

Thanks for the comments. Legibility is of course an important part, so your feedback on that area was great. I made some changes to a few of the letters, so I would like to know what you think of that. I also switched the lettering to sans serif, based on a few of your suggestions. I am liking...
  4. Logo for my hobby

I am working at coming up with a logo for my pen making hobby. The wordmark is based on my own handwriting, with a few tweaks. I picked orange partly because I liked the connotation of the color, partly because that's the color of ink I currently have in my fountain pen, and partly because it is...
  5. CET issues all over again - what do I do - am I crazy? Horrible print quality?

One of the main requirements for us was to be able to print 5x10 sheets. Unfortunately for Oce, that would mean stepping up to the double-sized XT, which is more $$$ and space. We also didn't like that there were no registration pins on the Arizonas. On the CET side, we liked the upgradeability...
  6. CET printer - Caldera?

Cool, good to hear that. Did CET provide you with profiles or did you make your own? Does CET provide good support for using what I am gathering is not their first choice of RIP software?
  7. CET printer - Caldera?

Hopefully i can use your experiences to allay my boss's fears about running a "foreign" OS in our Windows shop! I also found that the print/cut workflow is better than Onyx. Still, anyone have specific experience running a CET printer from Caldera?
  8. Anyone remember Cheapvehiclewrap.com???

    http://web.archive.org/web/20120805014026/http://www.cheapvehiclewrap.com/
  9. CET printer - Caldera?

Sent you a PM. That's nice to know that they give you some time to trade in. One thing my boss doesn't like about Caldera is that it doesn't run on Windows, which we use exclusively here. How does your workflow operate between Windows and Caldera? We are a smaller shop and would start out...
  10. Opinion on layout vs layout?

Another for top w/ reversed lettering. I'm kind of neutral on the logo watermark. Often the watermark will stand out more on the screen than when it's printed.
  11. CET printer - Caldera?

Is there anyone out there running a CET Q5 with Caldera? Our dealer quoted us Onyx ProductionHouse mainly because they are not a Caldera reseller, but I wanted to give Caldera a shot because I've "heard" a lot of good things about it on here. So I downloaded demos of both ProductionHouse and...
  12. Anapurna flatbed uv cured printer

What model Anapurna do you have? Are you still running the G1 inks? We are looking at upgrading from our M4f, and CET is very high on the list of candidates.
  13. TEXTUR3D™ Dimensional Logo

Nice sign! I'm betting it was UV printed using multiple layers. The slight banding on certain views reminds me of that. At ISA this year, Canon had some pretty impressive examples of what could be done with multiple-layer UV prints. That's what makes me really excited about getting a true...
  14. 3M IJ35C & Oracal 3651RA

We use IJ35-20 (matte) for all of our UV printed vinyl. We don't laminate, and I don't recall any issues. Our list price is also quite a bit lower than what you gave, but I see you are in Canada, which I suppose makes a big difference.
  15. Logo…thoughts please!

+1 on what Gino said. Match the shadow angle to the "point" angle or vice versa. That's the major thing that jumps out at me. On the thumbnail, you can't even read "Siloam" (which may or may not be OK), but the angle difference really jumps out.
  16. HP FB750 and FB550 - What's new?

HP sales guy told me they are the same heads as on the FBx00 printers. They supposedly moved the heads closer together to get better alignment, and just upped the carriage speed for faster print speeds. With the drop size the same as our over 5 year old Anapurna M4f, I'm not too impressed.
  17. Noob Routing Questions

Check out cutguru.com. They offer several types of underlay materials. Right now we are using the aquiline underlay for our Kongsberg table. It looks to be about the same as the Summa milling mat.
  18. iCut MGE 6.3.2 Software Needed

I would contact Esko. When I inquired about what would be involved with upgrading to version 7, I think they mentioned needing a new dongle along with the upgrade. So I'm not sure your dongle would even work with version 6.
  19. CET Printer Driver

I don't know what all would be involved, but couldn't you just install Thrive on a new computer and then swap the old and new computers? That would give you a quick way to test Thrive with little downtime if it didn't work.
  20. CET issues all over again - what do I do - am I crazy? Horrible print quality?

I am going to be watching this thread because we are looking into a new flatbed, and CET is one of the top printers on my list. It looks to me like a profile issue. Is there any way you can print with color management off?
