man... i appreciate all the input guys! some good food for thought here. i have some new stuff with different color schemes at my office but i'm at home so i'll post them later.....
it doesn't matter to me that "AP" plumbing looks similar... a lot of logos have similar elements.
the colors are something the customer requested... i will probably try to steer him to something else, but i doubt he'll go for it.
i agree with maybe no graphic...
i disagree with this... if i design a website in photoshop and forget and use aRGB instead of sRGB when i publish it the color change is immediately noticeable.
i agree a little about rendering intents... unless you have 2 prints side by side to compare the difference doesn't jump out at me...

see if you had a adobeRGB green 245 and then used the input profile on your rip sRGB it would move that green 245 inside the sRGB space to equal sRGBs translation of 245.
make sure to match those design program and RIP input profiles...

Neil if you are printing with sRGB then swapping to adobe RGB for your RGB input profile, you will get muted shifted colors in the sRGB. RGB spaces in digital 8 bit color are represented by numbers (0-255 for each color)
if you design in adobeRGB then your input profile needs to match...
why sketch or paint a picture now that we have cameras... why scuplt when you can order a premade cast... why make music with an acoustic guitar when we can do it all on computer electronic music..????
there is always something special about creating by hand, even if it is less than...
Make sure to check your local sign codes!! ours doesn't allow more than 6sq ft per window and i did a complete perf job on mine and the city is said i have to remove it... but i met with the mayor and the city council and they decided i could leave it but don't do anymore in town!!!!
i don't have CS5 so this may be a little different from CS4
but If you are using any raster effects (like illustrators drop shadow) or have a combination of rasters and vectors when you export there is a "transparency" menu that is normally grayed out it will have a box with preset "medium...
