  1. Nozzles are clogging but tech said there's no need to replace cap top

Things you can check yourself - when the machine does a clean, do you get much ink on the wiper? Is the ink in the middle of the blade? If you don't get much ink, it is probably the cap top that needs cleaning or replacing. Also clean under the head so it makes a good seal. I use a small brush...
  2. Just In Hello from Adelaide Australia

G'day Stevo and Shazza, from me also here in Adelaide!
  3. You trippin?

Nothing like mushrooms, if that's what you mean.
  4. You trippin?

Marijuana is pretty much decriminalized here in Australia, but still not legal for sale for recreational use. Pity, I reckon that's a good new business concept, that will be probably with us forever more. Nothing much wrong with a bit of weed, I reckon. May as well make it available for people...
  5. JV33-130 not printing one channel

Have a look in the Mimaki sub-forum. It's full of these questions and answers. I always suggest it's the cap top - not getting an air tight seal, not able to draw ink through the head. It most always is. Quite often I get a channel drop out 100%. I take the head over to the left side, clean...
  6. Mimaki CJV150. Do I need 2 of each Cartridge to run 2x (Dual) CMYK?

Yeah I agree. I wish you could override having it re-set the pinch rollers every time. It's a slow PITA and I never alter them anyway. You just have to get used to it's quirks. And there's a lot of them! One thing I'm still not used to - after about 5 years of daily use - is that stupid...
  7. Mimaki CJV150. Do I need 2 of each Cartridge to run 2x (Dual) CMYK?

Yes, my CJV30 will do the same thing if I'm not careful to avoid it. The front edge of the roll media can catch in one of the channels on the platen, causing it to dig in and rise up. Nasty consequences. I print everything with the head in high position, to avoid contact when printing.
  8. Mimaki CJV150. Do I need 2 of each Cartridge to run 2x (Dual) CMYK?

The tech is right. The second cart is just a reserve for when the first one runs out. They are both joined by a T section. FWIW, I have a bulk ink system and have been running with only 4 carts for about 4 years now. The second slots have brand new, empty, refillable carts in them. I just keep...
  9. Need Help One more.. Mimaki CVJ30-100 - No ink

The nozzles are never 100% clogged. When you had the head out, did you flush it (inject cleaning fluid into it)? If you have the right tubing, you can connect from syringe onto head nipples and push fluid through the head (slowly! carefully!) It's the same size tubing that runs through the...
  10. Need Help One more.. Mimaki CVJ30-100 - No ink

It sounds like you should check your cap top is sealing air tight, check the 2 tubes underneath are connected properly to the cap and the pump, the 3rd hole is plugged, check that the head is parking onto the cap properly. Dropping the head to low position may help get a stronger seal. If...
  11. Need Help One more.. Mimaki CVJ30-100 - No ink

When you do your ink fill/cleanings, do you see fresh ink pooling in the cap top? (Before it gets drawn out by the pump). You can see it when the head moves off to perform it's first head wipe. The cap should be about half full of ink. You should also get a good amount of ink on the wiper. This...
  12. yet another signlab 8 dilemma

Something fishy going on with that (those) tiff file(s). Embedded layers/ gradient masks/other insidious PS type doin's. Who uses tiff? Jpeg is fine - and it comes with everything flattened. But the easy workaround for this, if I needed it, (and I have the exact same setup as you - SL8 with...
  13. Gradient fill color selection

Well, I know with SL8, the gradients all get transformed from CMYK to RGB. To counter this, I only use RGB colours from my palette for gradients. If you need to, mix and add a new colour in RGB, to match the CMYK colour. Not sure if it's still relevant in whatever your latest version is.
  14. Question thinking of bying a cjv30-1000...................

I think the main thing you are m issing here is that it's only 1000mm wide. So, you'll have to have all your 1370 rolls ordered cut down to fit. And you won't be able to print an 8x4 sign. Give it a miss and get a CJV30-130 instead.
  15. Need Help corel to signlab

Hate what too? Win 10 or SL 10? Or both? (probably) The thing with Signlab is, you have to set up your toolbars and pallettes to suit you. Then save them as default. The rest is easy. Learn your keyboard and mouse shortcuts. Having said that, I'm totally happy with SL v8, so I don't know about...
  16. Mimaki CJV not printing

I doubt it. Both times for us the slider board and printhead were fine, just those 2 caps blew. One time when we blew the mainboard,I was installing a head decoder card and we plugged the ribbon cable in upside down! Another time I blame static or something, we were running a lot of banner...
  17. Mimaki CJV not printing

And get new ribbon cables to replace the ones from slider board to head. And be careful when plugging them in, they are hard to align and easily damaged, throwing up other errors just for fun.
  18. Mimaki CJV not printing

We fixed it ourselves - both times was the same capacitors (or transistors?) that blew. My brother is pretty good a diagnosing and fixing these things. If you have the service manual, it shows how to test the test points on the mainboard. If you get low resistance readings on a couple of TP's...
  19. Mimaki CJV not printing

So, when you had your short, I presume then the old head didn't print either after that. As in, the same scenario as you have now with the new head in? I would say it sounds like the main board. I'm speaking from experience - I've blown and fixed my mainboard twice now (CJV30-130). The simpler...
