  1. Censored!

Just for the record John (if you are still here), since you think I somehow got Gino kicked off, and that there was some sort of conspiracy involving myself, I want to make it perfectly clear that I didn't complain to the powers that be about your cartoons. To be honest, they've never bothered...
  2. RIP Round Man

I had the pleasure of meeting Tim a few times at some meets over the past few years. He was extremely smart and very knowledgeable. All my memories of him were positive ones. He was definitely a character and will be missed.
  3. What material should we use and where can we get large sheets of it?

That's not something we ever order since we don't do awnings. Do you recommend a vendor we can order it from.
  4. What material should we use and where can we get large sheets of it?

Ok, so it's getting close to that time of year. Haunted house season. For the past year we have had a great attraction built into our haunt. It's a vortex tunnel that we built on top of an old boat trailer so that we can move it around and store it. For those not familiar with a vortex...
  5. Artwork theft and showing your portfolio on other sites

I always thought that one was funny. I'm not sure what is more ironic that Jobs would use that quote after suing Microsoft for copyright infringement and before suing Samsung and various other hardware and software companies, or that the origin of that quote has been attributed to various...
  6. Artwork theft and showing your portfolio on other sites

LOL, it's not often I'm accused of being insecure, I've been accused of being cocky plenty of times. Nevertheless, I would think it's healthy to be somewhat unsure of your abilities, to feel that there is room to improve, and that there is plenty of work and things to learn before you reach the...
  7. Artwork theft and showing your portfolio on other sites

This one is kind of related to my post about crowdsourcing/spec-work. I have a bunch of logo designer friends on facebook and a few on here. Some of them are freelancers, some not. Every once-in-a-while I'll see a designer post up examples of other people ripping off their work, and they have...
  8. Looks like it wasn't meant to be.

I'm just not sure doing spec work on one of those sites is a good way of "bettering your talents". If practicing and honing your skills is what it's all about, I can think of a bunch of ways that are better than participating on those sites. I might create a fictitious brand, something that is...
  9. Overused logo designs

Oh man I'm doing one of those right now. LOL I think it somewhat fits in the swooshy men category. Not my best work, but I think it will work great for the client, which is a physical therapy/rehab group associated with a local nursing home.
  10. Looks like it wasn't meant to be.

Oh GOD more drama. Is that the running theory now, that I got Gino kicked off of Signs101? Wow, you are more paranoid than he is. I never asked anyone to boot Gino, you will have to take that one up with Fred, I have no dog in that fight, and certainly hold no power over Fred and his...
  11. Looks like it wasn't meant to be.

The HUGE difference between the two is that for a contest like CorelDRAW's semi-annual contest, a designer can submit almost anything, in fact he or she could submit a design they had already been hired and paid to create, which many designers do. The large majority of work submitted is...
  12. Looks like it wasn't meant to be.

I personally believe that there will always be a need to purchase design services the more traditional way where the design process involving proper collaboration between design and client is necessary, and where the designer gets paid for the work he or she does. So far we personally aren't...
  13. Looks like it wasn't meant to be.

Looks like that job wasn't meant to be. I had a guy call about having some design work done, after quoting him a price, he says it's too high and he can get it done much cheaper through crowd sourcing. At that point I lost any enthusiasm I had for selling the job to that particular person. I...
  14. Strange issue with CorelDraw X7

Oh yeah, I know. I'm the same way. Those little annoyances can add up when you use something day in and day out. I hope you get it figured out. Sorry I couldn't be more help, but I cannot begin to fix what isn't a problem on my setup. Has it always been this way? If not, maybe it's a windows...
  15. Strange issue with CorelDraw X7

They might not have been able to recreate the issue, and if you cannot recreate it, its difficult to fix it if not impossible. There may be some outside factors at play, did you look into the space bar thing that J Hill pointed out? Have you tested it on a different computer?
  16. Strange issue with CorelDraw X7

I cannot seem to replicate that issue. I would suggest posting it on the user forums at http://community.coreldraw.com/ That is where I would go. Not to take traffic away from signs101, but employees at Corel are on that forum daily. Chances are, some other user has dealt with your problem...
  17. Some color theory plz

Complimentary colors can be intense when used together, and not always intense in a good way. Sometimes it makes for a great layout. I've always liked using split complimentary colors though. Red and a bluish teal for example. But complementary and contrast are two different animals. When...
  18. Is there anyone from the Seattle Area that can help me out?

So I'm a part of a GISHWHES team this year. What is GISHWHES you ask? It stands for Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen. Here the site the explains all about it: https://www.gishwhes.com/ What I'm trying to do is find someone in the Seattle Area that has some free...
  19. Pounce pattern?

LOL than I haven't become one until earlier this summer, I've been using one since I was a kid, and it didn't get me until just recently.
  20. Pounce pattern?

If you do a lot of patterns you are with out a doubt going to want to get an electro-pounce machine....... until that fateful day when you accidentally zap yourself and question the hubris of mankind to assume that we can harness the power of electricity. :omg: :Big Laugh Oh and also we print...
