  1. Coro sign pricing

Anything more than 10+ we usually send out. Signs2Trade or Signs365 offers very competitive pricing, and their quality is great - and on a small order of 10-20 signs, what you save by doing them yourself is laughable. However, for really small orders of 1-9 signs we usually do them in-house...
  2. Grommet Press Advise

Yup, they are really nice and again, anybody should be able to set grommets with it. I bought it only after my Fellers rep told me they did tryouts in the office and EVERYONE could use the Hiker easily, and while the Stimpson is a great machine, a few smaller/older people had issues with...
  3. Moving on up.

Started my business in 2009, rented a 400 s.f. corner of a print shop that wasn't being used. Had a used Roland CX-300 cutter, a mac computer, some software and built a 4x8 work table and bought a cutting mat. Spent most of my time making banners, signs and vehicle graphics using only cut...
  4. Favorite Brushed aluminum/silver vinyl?

Wrapped some elevator doors in 3M's 1080 series brushed titanium, customer was thrilled - really looked like the real deal when we were done.
  5. Grommet Press Advise

After years of using a no-name press I purchased off eBay (and still going strong btw), the general consensus was that it was hard to use and the lever didn't generate the proper leverage for smaller/weaker/older persons who tried to use it. Now, it wasn't a problem for me, but I'm a big guy -...
  6. what is the "go-to" second hand printer (another mutoh vs roland)

Can't really comment on the Roland, we've been a Mutoh shop since I bought our first printer - a VJ-1204. Since then we've had a 1204, 1304, 1604, and currently run a 1624 and a new 1624x. The 12xx and 13xx series are fantastic printers, and use the same head as the bigger 16xx series, but...
  7. USTECH VT-9600 Laminator badley rusted frame

I completely understand, and would feel the same in your shoes. You don't expect new equipment to have rust on it. Dave has a good reputation here, and I don't doubt he'll give you the option to replace it, or give you a significant discount to compensate. In the end, it's purely cosmetic -...
  8. Right time to purchase new machine / inks

If I understand your post, I "think" you're asking about the logic of using 2 different types of ink for 2 different types of printer? If so, my advice is to try to use the same ink, and possibly even the same machine so that inks and parts are interchangeable. Makes life really nice when...
  9. USTECH VT-9600 Laminator badley rusted frame

Nope, our AK-600 is still going strong almost 4 years now. I would assume that is an issue from the factory, almost like it wasn't prepped properly before paint. Is the paint on the laminator unit itself OK? Maybe the stands are assembled in a different place, etc. Regardless Dave should be...
  10. Rollover vs Rollsroller

What kind of cost for the CWT brand? Similar to Rolls Roller? I just can't seem to wrap my head around a $20-$25,000 table unless I was was doing mounting all day every day...something that we only do 2-3 hours per day at my small shop... For laminating, I can see the benefit, but again, I...
  11. Does anyone have any feedback on the EFI H1625?

Well, if you don't mind please PM me - curious to see where this fits in pricing vs a used machine...
  12. Does anyone have any feedback on the EFI H1625?

Curious if either of you have been given a price on this machine? Can't seem to find anything online...
  13. Just for discussion...

It varies for me depending on the situation... I typically center hinge (vertically) anything that is mostly square or rectangular and apply right side/left side. With very large graphics I may split it up and apply each side in half, thirds, etc.. On tall items I usually horizontally...
  14. Mutoh 1324 Still having Print Issues

If your nozzle check is not good, nothing you do or try will mean anything until you get that problem fixed. Can you post a pic of your nozzle test? Missing a few nozzles really isn't a big deal but if you're missing more than 20% in any block it will show on your print quality.
  15. Suggestions for a low cost entry level used machine

Mimaki and mutoh both make an entry level flatbed - Roland might also. However from what I've been told, none are built the way they should be, and the speed is one of the biggest hang ups. You be better off finding a used HP FB500 for maybe $50,000 - otherwise it's about $100,000 to start at...
  16. Bulk Ink Mutoh VJ1624

Yes, we buy new smart cards - JetBest charges $7/ea. Would love to find an easy way to disable the chip reader...
  17. Buying new Printer..WHICH ONE?!!

No, I don't think you are understanding basic business or comparing apples to apples with your decision. Every shop should base their structure for charging their customers "X" based on an "hourly rate". This is the rate you come to when you plug in your rent/utilities/insurance/salary/taxes...
  18. Buying new Printer..WHICH ONE?!!

Understand completely about the excitement and frustration over choosing which printer and all of that. However, I caution you to look at your numbers again - if what you are saying is true, it just doesn't make sense for you to buy one at this point in time. For example; if a customer...
  19. Third party Ink suppliers and banner people where you at?!

Over time, we've tried most banner materials out there and have stayed stuck on Grimco's forward wound banner material. Good durable material, prints nice on both gloss and matte, feels thicker than most 13oz, I think regular price is about 16¢/sq ft but often you can get it on sale for about...
