  1. GraphixCALC Pro New Version release update

As a long time Graphix Calc user I am anxiously awaiting the new version. If you need any beta testers, I'd be happy to help and give you our feedback.
  2. Anyone use a Mutoh 1638X printer?

Sorry to hear about your bad experience. Feel free (without bashing) to post your experience and the problems you had, please PM me the dealer you purchased it from if you don't want to announce it here. Purchasing used equipment is always a crap shoot unless you're 100% certain and familiar...
  3. 440 cartridges in Mutoh 1324?

Bob, I did use 440's a few times when I had my 1204, the only issue is that the 1204 will only read 220ml off the card, so you'll wind up with a cart 1/2/ full of ink, but the printer will say it's empty. So, to work around that you just need a few spare cards to swap out once they signal empty.
  4. Need to match vinyl to GERBER white - can anyone help me?

Pat, they only said Gerber high performance white... Again, I apologize for my ignorance but I have no experience with Gerber vinyls... The job is for numerous numbers and letters approx 12" tall....
  5. Need to match vinyl to GERBER white - can anyone help me?

We don't use anything Gerber here and our typical vinyls are from 3M, Oracal or Avery. Can anyone tell me if a white from any of those will match a white from Gerber? (Not sure what the big deal - but I don't know anything about Gerber stuff...) Thank you!
  6. Wasatch to Valuejet fault

We also run Wasatch here, though we've upgraded to 7.1 when we bought the 1624 last October...wasn't happy about how I had to upgrade, but I digress. First, let me preface by saying I think Wasatch is far from perfect, especially in their customer service area and hardcore licensing strategy...
  7. Thanks Clean Cut Blades

Only blades I use, only blades I will ever recommend. :thumb:
  8. Credit Card Processing WTF?

Saw this thread got resurrected and thought I'd chime in... So, at the time of my last post I was looking at Elavon through Costco, and tried it for less than a month. Horrible, horrible experience with them - and judging by the online feedback (which I should have looked into first) I am not...
  9. 70 inches of daylight balanced LED's installed on printer for under $17

Very nice! I've been wanting to do this to my Mutohs - thank you for the link, ordering now...
  10. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

My fear of doing a reverse cut application is that because this glass is 3/4" thick, I think there will be some weird reflection/diffusion issues with the light coming through. Unless you were to look at it head on, AND we managed to get it precisely aligned with the fronts, you'd likely see...
  11. I have had it with Ultraflex

If you're used to the feel and durability of Bantex or Ultraflex, you'll be sorely disappointed in the 15oz from Grimco. The stuff is weak and flimsy - if these are to be used for pole banners or anything outdoors I would stay away from the Grimco stuff. (Just saying from my experience.)
  12. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

I am glad I let this thread go the last 2 days, it's comforting knowing that many of you thought the job looks good. (I'm often pretty hard on myself and what we do here to a fault.) I guess sometimes you just need to think on things and get others opinions before you say or do something you...
  13. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

The rooms were done with 2 different rolls of Oracal. However both show symptoms, although some letters do and some do not show the ghosting/halos. Again, the drips and other small anomalies are more random. I am pretty certain the cleaning crew didn't spray anything on it as we left...
  14. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

In a perfect world, I would agree. However, I have to get this remedied quickly to make the customer happy AND to receive the balance due for the work done. In my experience putting down true glass films dry is difficult at best, especially large panels like these. The odds of getting minor...
  15. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

When I took the 2nd picture, the film had been up about a week. We rubbed those spots again with a Geekwraps squeegee and couldn't make any change to the appearance. We did try to wipe it down with rapid tac on the outside, only it isn't on the outside, it is definitely in between the adhesive...
  16. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

Pat, I would say the majority of the frosted film we've used is the Oracal brand - though we have also used 3M and others on occasion. I really like the way Oracal looks and handles for install. Again, in the past 5 years I've never seen anything like this before. I have used MacTac B-free...
  17. NEED ADVICE - Frosted glass film issue - how to handle?

Some quick background - apologies for the long read; We did an install of some frosted glass film (Oracal 8510 coarse silver) on 2 glass walls for a company back around Thanksgiving. A few days after leaving, my contact called and said there were some issues with how it looked so I drove...
  18. Hello from Columbus Ohio

    Howdy neighbor!
  19. Charging too much?

I don't think it's always about material, sometimes it's about the production method. For instance, flatbed printing vs. roll to roll printing is much cheaper overall and often times prices are less than half on the retail end depending on the product. For some shops they thrive on large...
  20. How long can go without printing

Like you, we have a 1604 and 1624 here and they are usually pretty easy to keep them up, even when things slow down and you're not printing all day, every day. I would advise running them as often as you can. It might be a good idea to run some promotional items, small banners, etc. for your...
