  1. Brush Set?

To be honest, it seems a bit pricey for all that it includes. Not to knock a good store. You can buy the best brushes in the world, but without any hands-on experience, you might fail miserably. A good letterer can even make a brush from Michael's sing. I would suggest going to a Pinhead...
  2. Quoting Hand Painted

Is the $2400 for one or for three? I would definitely recommend using Novacolors paint for this job. Love....Jill
  3. Pounce pattern?

Pen-plot in reverse, then pounce with a wheel. The graphite powder flows better through the holes this way. (if you're worried about the client not being able to see where to pounce, trace the pen plot with a Sharpie (tape paper to a window) I sooo miss my 4B for making pounce patterns. I...
  4. Does my customer have a dirty mind ? ?

Oh, dear. I think almost anyone would see the same image, although some wouldn't have the b*lls to point it out. :ROFLMAO: You are definitely going to have to put something across the top of that window. Just not any Georgia O'Keefe looking florals, mkay? Love....Jill
  5. Someone actually PAID for this logo...

    hahahahahaaa
  6. hi im chris, what was your biggest mistake?

I agree about the subbing out of printing. I use Corel and have had real good luck with it. I can cut paint mask or vinyl on my Graphtec plotter via Corel but I sub out my prints. I agree with ddubia. Don't try to be everything to everyone. Find what you're good at, and what you enjoy doing...
  7. Logo concepts for an agricultural service company

Still busy and the kerning needs tweaking.
  8. Logo concepts for an agricultural service company

No prob. Today is my day off from the real job I was forced to take after 29 years in this business. :Big Laugh
  9. Logo concepts for an agricultural service company

    I'd keep it really simple.
  10. Painting 12 foot tall letters- how would you do it?

....remember that round letters are always a little bigger than straight ones.
  11. Logo concepts for an agricultural service company

Way too contemporary for what it is. I'd do something with an icon of the hills to the left of the name. The name in a nice typeface, caps and lower case, no weird wedding looking initial. If it works in black and white it should work in color...but what you have is very weak, color-wise...
  12. Painting 12 foot tall letters- how would you do it?

Considering your location, I would sub it out to one of your local signpainters and let them worry about it. I'd say a grid would be the best way forward, maybe a pounce pattern for the small stuff. Love....Jill
  13. Shop Van Wrap Critiques

I like it with the call today, the logo as-is, but I'd remove that laundry list from the sides completely. Put it on the back only. (where people can read it in traffic) It clutters the clean look. Love....Jill
  14. PVC For Outside

I've been a sign gal for 29 years...and for almost a year now, I've worked in the rail shop (PVC) at a local fence company who sells AZEK (their banners are really ugly) :Big Laugh You live in CT, so any PVC sign substrate you use is gonna warp in the heat or shatter in the cold. AZEK is for...
  15. Font ID Please: Icky old motorhome lettering.

Looks like maybe Laser or Rapier but I dunno? :thankyou::signs101: Love....jill
  16. Noob Question...how do I do this?

Make your number. (red) Convert to curves or weld. Outline it, (white) break apart the outline. Outline it again (contour) (black) slightly larger; break apart. Copy that outline. Paste it, move it to the right and lower it with your arrow keys or just eyeball. Weld that to the final...
  17. Shaded Shadow?

I got the pleasure of seeing Karen (Cranberry) doing her split-blended shading by hand at my first Letterhead meet in 1994. I have one of her panels. She paints them. The person who does this with Corel better than anyone is Stevo Chartrand. http://www.stevo-design.com/logos.htm Jason Nale...
  18. Jersey Style Truck Lettering

No matter the style, basic rules will make your lettering stand out. Watch the kerning. Jersey style tends to be real tight. Make sure your shadows and outlines do not have more contrast than your lettering. Sign DNA probably has the most Jersey-Style fonts. I'm assuming you won't be...
  19. Getting my first real storefront. Any tips or tricks on setting it up?!

Make sure to make a sign with your shop minimum (let's say $50) to keep out the sticker-wanters. Post hours on the door along with a NO SOLICITORS sign. Definitely divide your work area from your customer area and mark the work area as PRIVATE or have some sort of barrier. That's some of the...
  20. Confusing Corel question .

I'm dumb as a bag of hair when it comes to stuff like this. But could that little button that looks like a lock (in the toolbar) be checked or unchecked? Love....Jill
