  1. Question Colour Match - 3M Reflective vs Other (Cheaper) Brands

Good luck. Films used in the '80's are not the same films used today. 3M does a pretty good job at maintaining color consistency though. Unless you have "Productions" part numbers, it's just going to come down to experimenting. There is no reflective silver, nor has there ever been. White looks...
  2. Need Help Need so help with a Grass cloth wallpaper?

Covering it isn't going to make the pattern go away. It's likely to enhance it if anything since now it'll be a gloss finish. Take it down.
  3. Vinyl graphics on matte paint?

You should be fine if they used a satin clear coat rather than a "hot rod black". One of my law enforcement customers now has a fleet of matte black cruisers that I decorate with reflective. Two years in and everything has been fine.
  4. Would you accept this job? Is it even possible??

You're going to have to take very careful measurements to figure out exactly how much vinyl it's going to take to go into all those ribs. I personally wouldn't do it, but I don't wrap. No option for a simple flat panel screwed to the sides?
  5. Switching to Avery wrap

BigfishDM Can you send out sample sheets to print on with your laminate to see how they work with individual printers?
  6. Paint booth accessories - painting double sided sign

Back in the days before I was using 2 part urethanes and relied entirely on enamels, if I had a slew of boards to paint, I'd paint one side and the edges all in one round. If I didn't have room to paint all of them at once, I'd lean them against the wall with thumb tacks or roofing nails at the...

  8. One more for the funky Q's..

Oh yeah... this one could be a good contract since the previous company pissed the owner off.

SQUAD by letterman7 posted Dec 13, 2019 at 2:43 PMOne more. Went through my 2K fonts, used the Font identifier and still can't match the Q with the A. It has to be a bold commercial font.. the company that did this is too cheap to do anything custom :) TIA

  11. Suggestions 2019 Ford super duty F250. how do I remove the exterior handles so I can wrap the truck

Wait until you do a 2020 Explorer... getting them off is easy. Getting them back on, not so much.
  12. Sign making help NOOB

Because Designjets were always meant to be indoor usage. Get rid of it and get a true latex or solvent ink printer. You won't find one in 24" though..

    .080 or 1/2" MDO as a backer.
  14. Wind load on wall mount channel letters???

How are those definitions common sense, Bill? They override each other and are certainly not specific enough, nor do they cover all the possible combinations that the industry produces. The definitions are purposefully vague, left to non-industry individuals to "fill in the blanks" which, as...
  15. Wind load on wall mount channel letters???

ICC holds national conferences every year to hear proposals on additions or changes to the code. New codes are launched every three years, so we're stuck for the next 3 (just voted on in October). Anyone can attend - but you have to get there under your own power. There is no reimbursement for...
  16. Wind load on wall mount channel letters???

I encourage everyone in the US who is a sign professional to review this: https://codes.iccsafe.org/content/IBC2018/appendix-h-signs?site_type=public That little tidbit is what is causing so many issues in townships across PA who adopt the ICC codes in their entirety without reading the fine...
  17. Wind load on wall mount channel letters???

Rookies. I just had to get sealed drawings for a flat wall mount, 6mm ACM 4' x 10..... wind load, attachments, the whole 9..
  18. HDU questions for a hanging sign

You never said how large, what the mounting is or anything like that. Everyone is assuming a hanging sign, but I'm not reading that anywhere. For HDU spanning between 2 uprights, I usually core it with MDO or lately, a welded aluminum framework with the frame extending outside the sign as the...
