  1. Compliance Depot for vendor

Yep, I had to deal with CD years ago with a customer that was a property manager. After trying to jump through the hoops and realizing it was a huge scam, I called the customer's boss and cut out the middle man - supplied the credentials directly to their company as it should have been to begin...
  2. Another number font

Out of 2600 resident fonts, I don't have this... lots close.. anyone? Sunnybrook Golf Club Font by letterman7 posted May 7, 2019 at 5:03 PM

  4. Is it OK to turn down work?

Absolutely. I received an email yesterday for some landscaper looking to have his truck lettered. He already had all the copy and logo with sizes in the email... I deleted without responding. Don't need price shoppers at this point.
  5. Komacel for exterior application

At that size it's going to potato-chip in under a year with a darker color. And applying a vinyl to the surface is just cheaping out - it will eventually shrink from your V-carved areas. Build an internal frame to support both panels (a simple inlay carving of the frame structure 1/2" the...
  6. Cool Flag Production Video

The thing that impressed me (I'm not a screen print person by any means) was the magnetic application wand. That was pretty neat. I was watching a Jeremy Wade fishing program last night - he was in Cambodia - and the river he was in was just clogged with debris from human habitation. All I could...
  7. Which reflective vinyl should I use?

That's pretty basic stuff. Use whatever brand you are currently using for non-reflective would be my advice. Personally, I keep the 3M RA series in stock as that's what most of my clients spec for their jobs; the air removal system works well. Other shops local to me use the Oracal brand. One...
  8. Just slipped a disk.

If you actually slipped a disc, you'd likely be in the hospital right now. What you probably did is hyperextend your lower back, like I did 10 years ago. Felt like a knife went right through my spine (and still does occasionally to this day). I wouldn't suggest a chiropractor either, but a trip...
  9. 1204 dragging ink

Mine does that as well if I'm laying a lot of ink. I put it to a couple things, static and the vinyl not being drawn tight enough with the take-up roller. Like John Best, I print everything with head high, but I still get those marks from time to time. Check your head carriage for errant dust...
  10. What could cause this?

Pressure washer is my first guess, especially if they are using hot water washers in the colder weather. If it was fuel oil leaking (drips), you'd see it just on the top of the letters. Of course, installation is also the question. If they were installed in sub-freezing weather, all bets are...
  11. Rant Grimco has gone down hill fast for us

So far I haven't had much issue with them. I primarily purchase 3M vinyls from them and not much else. However, a buddy of mine saw them with a booth at a local craft - not trade - show selling equipment and supplies to the end user. So.. how much savings are we really getting from them? If I...
  12. best sign related injury :)

Closest thing I got to have been killed by was an errant handle on a hand winch, my fault. Just basically starting in the business, working for a company that had an old service truck with a hand-winched service ladder. Took the truck one afternoon to a close by service call (easy), finished...
  13. Suggestions Business Insurance covering auto graphics

That's very odd. At the moment I'm shopping for new insurance. My Hartford agent sucks, so I'm transferring to another firm. As soon as I hear from them about coverages I'll let you know. Shop it around - someone dropped the ball. Who heard of a sign shop that doesn't letter vehicles?
  14. Need help with Letters

You need to practice more with Corel. What Rob did is very basic and easy to do. Basic circle shapes; rectangles, fills and fades..
  15. Suggestions Business Insurance covering auto graphics

I have Hartford as well. Ask for a 'garage owner's' umbrella. Covers everything (or potentially everything) that could happen to the vehicle while it's in your possession. That said, they've never said anything to me about truck graphics - my agent suggested the additional coverage just in case...
  16. Need help with Letters

Pool noodles are straight, usually. Start with a font that has rounded edges, like Arial Rounded and add a vector fill of something like "sand" for the dimples. All readily available in Corel depending on which version you have. All depends on how you're going to produce it though.. printed or cut?
  17. Hahaha I love these stories

I see nothing wrong with what she did. Squeegee was a piece of formica (sample), tile was going on the mantel. So what if it peels if they light the fireplace?
  18. Backing reflective with ControlTac

Or, just use RA reflective. You could put down 180 and overlay it, but there will be a difference in shrink rates which could screw up the graphic.
  19. Mystera for office/navigation signage

I've done stuff from Avonite and Corian. I'd imagine Mystera is about the same stuff being solid surface. You can paint it, it just needs to be prepped like any other plastic. Order some samples and play with it - you have nothing to lose.
