Thanks for the info! I think we have the pressures and blade extension worked out. The decals just hold on but pop out easily. I'll set up an outfeed table this weekend and see how it goes. We've been getting scratches on the media too, even with the up-speed turned right down, so a table should...
We just got our Summa S2 T140 installed. Everything is set up and ready to go but I have a question about setting up the FlexCut.
Let's say I have a single decal with a simple contour cut and a square FlexCut around it and I want to print 100 on a sheet. If I nest them together, edge to edge...
We just had our S Class 2 T140 installed and the installers commented on being careful not to lean on the top of the cutter when loading vinyl. They said that it can cause alignment problems etc. It's probably not as bad on the narrower machines, but it's probably worth checking everything is...
It's not that easy with motocross graphics. You need a conformable material with a high bond adhesive that will adhere to low energy plastics. I don't know of any off the shelf fluorescent/neon vinyls with the correct adhesive properties. I guess it's possible to apply the adhesive afterwards...
Any cheap eBay laminator will do the job. Just get a 30" or something like that and you can also use it for mounting prints on small signs, applying application tape etc.
Frog juice and liquid laminates are messy in my experience, and they sometimes stink so you'll need a room with adequate...
Thanks for the replies!
Sorry I should have been more specific, it's vinyl for the Edge. We print onto a lot of specialist vinyls such as neon, reflective etc. These are crazy expensive in 15" sprocketed so I'm just trying to think outside the box a little. The Oracal distributor here doesn't...
Does anybody know if it is possible to buy a machine that will punch the holes into the edges of vinyl so I can run it though the Gerber?
It's really hard to get hold of vinyl here in Sweden. Everything has to be imported from the UK or US and the choice of colours is limited. It would be...
So anyway, I managed to figure this out. In case anyone finds this useful, I edited the XML file that controls the cutter properties and I can now print with Versacamm cropmarks and cut on the GX500. The Versacamm crop marks are inboard of the graphics, so I can use the full media width for...
Hi Guys, need some help here. I'm trying to print with Roland crop marks using Onyx so that the file can be cut on a Roland GX500 cutter. The printer is a VS540i.
The problem is that Onyx is placing the crop marks on the outside edges of the job, which reduces my print width by roughly 3" (1.5"...
Test print isn't great. I'd do a headsoak and try to clear some of those nozzles. Check for static on vinyl too. Slow the print head down in Versaworks as it will reduce the overspray.
In terms of the final product, is your customer happy having a join in their artwork just so you can save material? I don't know where this is for, but lets say it is an image for the side of a vehicle. I wouldn't want you to tile the job if you didn't have to. It doesn't look tidy and can...
I'd agree with this. I've seen guys with Graphtec cutters who set up a cutting table both sides of the cutter so that MX material can stay flat. Cheap and easy to do. Use boards with a smooth surface such as melamine faced chipboard. This allows the material to slide back and forth easily...
