  1. Hot and humid = banding

Are you sure you don't have a cap station bad on the black head and the humidity just happens to be coincidence?
  2. Pantone Swatch Books - Which One?!

Hey guys, As of now, our workflow has been design in illustrator (selecting pantone swatches) > print in versaworks (convert spot colors) to roland printer. 90% of our customers are not using pantones, the other 10% we are able to get as close as possible. My question is, which pantone swatch...
  3. Versaworks locking up

At this point you might as well try a fresh install of versaworks, make sure you have newest up-to-date firmware on the printer itself, possibly try reinstalling USB drivers for your printer if you have them. If that doesn't work, you got problems :)
  4. Versaworks locking up

our sp300 converted to sp300v runs latest version of vw no problem. I'd say reinitialize the app and see if that helps.
  5. Is Translucent Vinyl Necessary?

Because regardless of what anyone tells you, if the plexi doesn't have UV protection built into it, it gets brittle and hairline cracks all over
  6. Just printed on Oracal 3105 (Motocross) now cutter won't read registration marks.

I'm not familiar with your setup (we're on roland) but I know most guys printing/cutting motocross laminate are cutting once, returning to origin, then hitting cut a second time. Since you're using crop marks, you should be able to have it cut normally, then run it again and have it read crop...
  7. Is Translucent Vinyl Necessary?

We use translucent WHITE vinyl quite a bit as a "base" layer on clear plexi. All the suppliers around here with translucent white plexi with UV protection in them want WAYYYY too much money, so we buy the clear plexi with UV built in, coat with translucent white first, then lay the graphic on...
  8. Just printed on Oracal 3105 (Motocross) now cutter won't read registration marks.

Next time toss a post-it note over each of the crop marks and laminate over them, then use a knife to cut the lam out and it won't be sticking where the post it note was :) That laminate job looks terrible btw...why so many bubbles in the middle of the print?
  9. Versaworks locking up

Ours lags for a second but comes through. Have you tried to "re-initialize" versa works?? You'll lose your info but it's worth a try.
  10. Strange Overspray losing me jobs. Please Help!

I had a similar problem a couple weeks ago. Nothing helped (including dryer sheets dangling). Eventually we unplugged the powercord for about 2 hours, plugged it back in and viola! What does the test print look like?
  11. Versacamm stopping regularly to clean mid print.

Also just as a side note, once you do get it turned off: We keep an eye on our prints every couple feet and if we notice anything funky, you can always hit pause and once paused, hold the cleaning button down until it beeps and it'll start cleaning and then unpause it once done. That way you...
  12. How many of you actually use PerfCut?

Most of the stickers they do are digitally printed...and the backing is die-cut using some sort of perf cut on a plotter. The question is what settings are you all using for perfcut in versaworks, not what process one website uses.
  13. How many of you actually use PerfCut?

Guys like http://diecutstickers.com/digitaldiecutstickers/ seem to be doing nothing BUT contour cut sticker liners and I'm assuming the only way they're cranking out 10-20k digitally cut sticker orders is because of the perf cut, flick and stack.
  14. How many of you actually use PerfCut?

Ok I'll bite again, revisiting this thread. When we did the 6"x2.5" stickers before they were a simple rectangle (2.5" across the printer, 6" front to back) and after about three of them cut, the sheet lost all rigidity and got twisted in the printer.... Blade depth aside, what settings in...
  15. Window Perf Install Tips?

Sounds good to me. Yes these are flat windows. The idea of stretchy window perf stresses me out, but if you say that's how it's done, then that's how we're gonna do it :)
  16. Banding Cyan ONLY?

The cyan on our sp300v does the same thing, but not nearly as bad, and our test print is 100% perfect. I have no idea why it bands, but we've never been able to get it to go away...heater settings, cleaning, etc. Nothing makes the cyan banding go away so we just get it as faint as possible and...
  17. SP300V Odd Test Print

No idea why, but unplugging for about 2 hours and then plugging it back in did the trick. Mysterious technology.
  18. Window Perf Install Tips?

Hey guys, We hardly ever do window perf installs (it's just not our thing) but we're doing five big 31"wide x 91" Tall windows in printed window perf this friday and looking for tips. Obviously install dry...We've decided to print at EXACT size of the window with no overhang to cut off. I'd...
  19. SP300V Odd Test Print

So it appears if I leave the printer OFF for an extended amount of time, fire it up and run "test print" the test print shows 100% clear. Run first print, first inch the problem comes back. Run a test print and the black lines are in the test print over magenta and yellow and cyan again. Let it...
  20. SP300V Odd Test Print

I let the printer sit all day yesterday and fired it up this morning, immediately did a test print and it came out 100% normal. Loaded print job, hit print, and problem comes back.... I should also point out that there's black speckles all along the left edge (furthest from capping station) of...
