Check the physical HD space on the RIP machine, possibly it is not large enough or fast enough. We now have SSDs in our RIPs and everything is much faster.

I have to say that I would seriously consider switching. The newer eco-solvents allow you to print and laminate the same day, just not IMMEDIATELY. I can't see why your "regular business model" would involve immediate lamination and that it couldn't wait a couple hours or until tomorrow morning...
