It sounds like it's possible the cap top is the issue. You might be getting inconsistent suction from the current one which is why it seems to be coming and going. If the cap top doesn't do it, I have been seeing ink flow issues on these older models. I usually just change out the ink lines and...
When you did the damper swap to see if yellow would print in another channel, did the color you swapped it with also not print in the yellow channels? When you flush the yellow channels, did you see cleaning solution come out of any other of the channels other than yellow?
I've used 70% alcohol for years but a another tech on here suggested I only use 90% as the 70% has too much water which can cause issues. I think you'd be ok with either but if you can get 90% use that.
I agree that there is a possibility the quality is still good enough he might be able to get by. I have some customers who won't accept the smallest defect in a print and others who will print with 50% of nozzles missing. Everyone has a point where they won't sell it anymore.
These heads are...
Bad encoder strips can do some weird things that don't seem to make sense so it's worth a shot for sure. In my experience that magenta streak is usually caused by an electrical issue though. Could be bad head cables, trailing cables or a bad head. Rarely it's a damaged main board but that's a...
That's a pretty good amount of deflection in the black. I don't usually see heads recover from that very often. You can try doing some head soaks and as a last resort you could flush the head manually but that can also damage the head internally. It's worth a shot if you're prepared to get a new...
Are you saying that there is more ink on the wiper than usual? I'm not sure what would cause that but wiper is something you should be cleaning fairly regularly so it's expected to have ink on it fairly often.
The reason techs are so hit and miss is because the training usually consists of learning how to install the printer and not how to troubleshoot and fix it. It does go through how to change a head but that's mostly so you can learn how to do the alignments at install. After that the tech has to...
True for anything the ink touches. If your main board blows for some reason however, it should still be covered. But if the head clogs the first question they ask on the warranty request is what ink are you using.
I know on the Mutoh solvent MS31 inks, even when they expire the printer lets you keep printing like nothing is wrong. Do the UV Mutoh inks actulaly lock you out?
The short shelf life of UV inks is a common problem. As a Mimaki dealer we only stock inks that we have a large customer base for to avoid them expiring on our shelf or making customers mad when they see the shot date. All others we drop ship to get the freshest date. If you had the machine...
It's a fairly common issue but worth bringing up once in while to see how everyone is doing it these days. The double strike or overprint option in your RIP is used for this in a lot of cases where it prints the same pass multiple times to get more ink density. The problem is ink pools up and...
The first thing you want to check is if there is actually ink in the black cartridge. Sometimes they are empty and don't flag the printer properly. If that's not the issue then I would suspect the dampers need to be changed.
Did you change your offset setting when changing blade types/angles? If not, you might try again and make sure to change that setting. I would think a higher angle blade would be better for the higher detail.
Most likely a stolen credit card who's original owner will then chargeback and you won't win an appeal. Or they send you a bad check or fake money order.
I used to report all the scams we get but they simply don't care. Unless it's 100's of thousands of dollars they don't see it as worth...
Also these machines came with the 2 liter bulk system by default. If you can't use the 2 liters in the expiration time, it's probably a good idea to switch to 440 cartridges.
I'm not 100% sure but it might be that the MP11 inks are a UV ink and the MP31 is, I believe, alcohol based. I'm thinking that difference probably has something to do with it.
You can just flush the system with the cleaning solution as DL Signs signs mentioned. I can't remember what it's called on Roland machines but there should be some sort of discharge and flush function. It empties out the flush afterward so you just have empty lines. It can sit like that for a...
Usually Mimaki gives you 60 days after expiration before it locks you out. If it's not letting you continue then it's probably been longer than 60. You can try to get your hands on some new chips from a 3rd party ink supplier. I've heard of people removing the battery from the main board on...
