  1. Looking for an old thread - Versaworks Alignment Marks

I use this ALL THE TIME on our 30"....multiple sheets print with alignment then go back and cut...although we have to hit "cut only" on every sheet manually once they're printed...it doesn't continue to find the next sheet, search for alignment marks and then cut all the sheets with one button.
  2. Screw you 3M.

and ur satisfied with that why?
  3. Please Identify this font...

Palladia Bold looks CLOSE but I don't think it's a match
  4. Please Identify this font...

Customer thinks it's a variation of TIMES NEW ROMAN, but I don't think it is. I've run through font recognition with no good results. The tail on the 5 is a killer on this one...any ideas?
  5. Color Management

After reading the hudson explanation - it's starting to make sense. BUT, ICC profile is embedded into the eps file (in my case CMYK File, using SWOP V2) and once it's in versaworks I have all kinds of ICC profiles to specify in color management tab. Should I MATCH this to Swop V2? We usually...
  6. Color Management

Jim - run batch scripts in photoshop to convert them to cmyk or rgb....you're welcome :)
  7. Color Management

So this brings us back to the question....WHAT is the CORRECT way to do it? and WHO SAID SO?
  8. Color Management

Weird. Oracal told me they profile their medias using CMYK files and "U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2" so that's how we should design ours to get the best colors on their media, using their provided profiles. EDIT (TO CLARIFY!!!) They did say set the RGB setting to "Adobe RGB 1998" I (also) have no...
  9. Color Management

We design everything in CMYk and our printer almost ALWAYS outputs exactly what colors we expect to see. In the meantime - I'd suggest researching how to convert your sp300 to an sp300v and getting a versaworks disk from roland - it's easy. Versaworks is much more powerful than colorrip.
  10. change ink type

You're going to need to do a LOT more than just change the options in the service menu and pop an ink cartridge in, to change from one color setup to a new one...I've never done it, but you can plan on having to replace cap station, ink lines and I THINK some heads? It's not just an option and...
  11. Laminator is my new best friend!

We've always had a laminator but never used it to mount...only to laminate print stickers :) our laminator and I always understood each other - i use it for laminating prints only, and it won't mess with me hahahaha Until I manned up yesterday and had a heart to heart with it...
  12. Laminator is my new best friend!

I left my laminate loaded and just let the masked vinyl hang over the top of the top roller...as long as the vinyl is smooth coming off that top roller before it hits the substrate, it's going on the substrate STRAIGHT and bubble-less. We used to do these full coverage signs wet and hand to the...
  13. Laminator is my new best friend!

Nooo..i mean the bubbled from using the big squeegee, before we tried the laminator. I wished we would have just started out with the laminator all along hahaha
  14. Laminator is my new best friend!

eeek....Now I'm looking at some corex signs with full coverage we applied yesterday with the big squeegee....wishing I hadn't decided to try the laminator halfway through this order. fookin bubbles on corex!!!
  15. Options you'd like to see in VersaWorks?

I think versaworks is PLENTY powerful...I was simply curious what other shops want. This isn't a rant or a complaint thread at all - and so far it actually looks like a lot of features for some have been discovered because of it :)
  16. gold vinyl

I use Rtape VinylEFX on dump truck doors all the time and it seems to hold up decent. ONLY 3-4 years...if someone only has to pay for door lettering every 4 years, that's pretty damn good lifespan in my opinion for the money spent. Did they want it to outlast the building?
  17. Options you'd like to see in VersaWorks?

If you're going to crop .2" off, it's only going to affect the width by around the same...why wouldn't you just use locked ratios? or clip it off with the clipping/tiling tab?
  18. Versastudio bn 20

If you're going to use cal film, you might as well save the money and use cal lam....they'll be fine on outdoor signs for 3-5 years -- at least. But I can tell you printing a 4'x8' in three pieces 8ft long on that little 20" printer is going to take all day. You'd be better off buying a used 30"...
  19. Laminator is my new best friend!

Why have I been hand applying signs for the last 5 years?!?! We had an order of 18"X24" die-cut vinyl signs to apply (mostly full coverage) this week and we allotted two days to complete the order... 4.5 hours later, I'm boxing up the order. I saved $30/gallon fluid, my hands, and...
  20. Options you'd like to see in VersaWorks?

I've noticed the new ink warning in 4.7.1 is a bit off as well. It warned us about not enough magenta to complete the job and we ended up printing 500 4"x4" stickers after the warning came up before having to swap the cartridge. I will say though, that i do LOVE versaworks and the abilities it...
