  1. messed on by the local sign hack... that isn't even in business anymore

My local hack is selling a double-sided (poorly designed) 4'x8', installed, for $250. :banghead: Love....Jill
  2. thank you Jill!

You're welcome. Your emails were by far the best and funniest client emails I have ever recieved. I would work with you any day. Glad the dude was pleased. Please don't show anyone. :ROFLMAO::banghead::rock-n-roll: Love....Jill
  3. Layout Critique

Does the stripe have to be orange? Could it be blue like in the logo? Love....Jill
  4. Future of the industry?

From where I sit, signs are pretty much dead. Had to get a real job again after a brief boom last fall into this summer (but what was really like it used to be every day 10 years ago) I have so many hacks with plotters and even printers within a 5-10 mile radius of me it's not even funny...
  5. Sign Painter the Movie, panel discussion

Hoping to see the movie in Pittsburgh next week. Hoping that painted signs really are making a comeback. Love....jill PS always glad to see my peeps Bill, Cornbread, and Mikey.
  6. Revived book end signs

You improved upon what already looked really nice. The dimensional letters really add pop. Would have liked to see the part around the owl done in smalts, a deep cobalt blue. Sweet! Love....Jill
  7. respecting territories

It's tricky. I don't think you did anything wrong. After all, they contacted you. You had no idea that your friend had been interested in this job. Unless you are a psychic. I think the friend is probably (like me) hurting for work and therefore more sensitive than they should be. You know...
  8. So I've been thinking...

I'm being cremated but buried at the base of my parent's grave(s). I've always wanted a UK-type memento mori style stone, with a skull and an hourglass on it, and I know what I want engraved on it. I'm sure my mother will be p!ssed off at me into eternity for having the temerity to put...
  9. New to this site...Jeff Ogden

Jeff! Where the heck have you been? Roger DiNofa was asking about you when I saw him at the Walldog meet in Kewanee. I'm hosting one here in Butler in 2016. Glad to see you're still alive and kicking. Love.....Jill
  10. Serious? Notice the salary..

It's $1 more per hour than I'm getting at my "real" job 4 days a week, and I've been painting signs since 1985. Love....Jill
  11. What does everyone else think?

At least it's not red on blue (which I was taught in high school has no contrast) My local signarama makes all their signs red on blue. It's still pretty ho-hum and disjointed but at least you can actually read this one. Love....Jill
  12. How often do you get this................. ??

It's things like this that really make me hate people. I can't wait until I never have to deal with anything like this again. Love....Jill
  13. Anyone Recognize this Graphic?

That's a roland vector art image, available via Fred's site. I'm having a huge mental block at the moment and I can't remember the name of it! Love....Jill Here: http://www.expressclipart.com/store/index_cat.php?cPath=133_201&page=10& You'll need to root around. It's originally by Steve...
  14. Monday Rant

I never even give out my ideas without a deposit. It seems that in my neck of the woods, price is the only thing that matters, and the talentless local hacks are polluting my neighborhood with ugliness. I think I'd call him just to tell him that his signs look like sh!t. He's not your...
  15. Which one?

C (I'd like to see the blue more of a denim color) Love....Jill
  16. 2 for 1 Font ID

The stuff going around the circle is a Larabie font. http://www.myfonts.com/foundry/Typodermic/
  17. Need Font Help!!!

This one comes up a lot. I know there is a correct answer on here, but until someone else chimes in, you could try Clarendon and node edit. http://www.myfonts.com/fonts/softmaker/clarendon-serial/xbold/ Love.....Jill
  18. Opinions and Advice,Window Decal

Will all of the decals have two numbers? If not, that's going to throw off your balance. Why the very thin number sign? I always make a # or a $ smaller than the number when I use those symbols. I would put the number inside the volleyball and stack the words beneath it. I know that you want...
  19. True Artistry

I'm planning to see it in a few weeks in Pittsburgh. There was some talk of having a mini-meet at the theater but it hasn't materialized. Have been painting signs for almost 30 years, and enjoy it tremendously. It's dealing with people who think that I do it for beer money that I mostly...
  20. Tire Company Repaint

One of the best parts of this job for me was that I did not have to buy an expensive printer or learn how to use it in order to do this. And I agree, this should look good for ten or more years. And even when it starts to fade, it will still look kinda cool. Existing sign was in good shape. The...
