  1. Logo Critique

I like it! Nudge the copy over closer to the icon. The icon would look really neat on top of the copy, too.
  2. Sometimes the irony is TOO much....

Good Lord! ...but I've seen uglier. :) Nice one, Pat! Love....Jill I sooo want to add a photo of a sign for a new "sign shop" downtown. Managed to snap it before they had to take it back down.
  3. Logo Critique

I think the original has too many words, and using "electric" on there twice seems redundant. I think their name should be smaller, with ELECTRIC bigger, maybe a motor off to the one side. Love.....Jill
  4. Found a Gerber Edge

Sounds like a steal, provided he has the software/dongle. You can design in Corel and import into Composer for plotting. Love....Jill
  5. A little rebranding.... Thoughts

At a quick look, there is wayyy too much emphasis on both the numeral 2 as well as the "to". I agree with starting afresh. Maybe something stacked, with Designs on the top and 2 Signs on the bottom. About the only thing I do like are your colors. Phone number should not be in the logo...
  6. Sign I am making for myself

    Looking good. Love....Jill
  7. Font Identify

Check Advance looks like the base of LHF Convecta. Pic is too small to see the other font but even a condensed Hellvetica might work. Love....Jill
  8. Opinion/advice needed

With a script, ending with an 's, I always type out the entire word then insert the ' where it looks best. I don't like to break up the flow of the script. Love....Jill
  9. Walk-ins...

For every 5 wack jobs who walk in, I do get at least 1 good customer. I take the good with the bad and try to act professionally to everyone. As long as they are not psychic and can read my thoughts, all is well. I agree that most are tire-kickers. I kinda give people credit for having the...
  10. insurance for installs, who do you use?

Mine is through Hannahstown Mutual (general liability) it's about $500 a year. I was trying to switch to Farmer's but they couldn't seem to do what I needed them to do so I'm still stuck with Hannastown. I honestly can't remember the amount I'm covered for at this moment. One of my clients...
  11. Wild West Designs HUGE SHOUT OUT

Evan is great. He did some work for me a few months ago. (digitizing a logo and embroidering it onto pillow cases!) Super professional to deal with and he did a wonderful job, my client was tickled pink. Love....Jill
  12. Gold Sign paint?

Ronan's Aqua Leaf is really nice (requires a couple-o-coats tho) My fave gold paint is Kemp's PermaGild. It's real hard to find. Love.....jill
  13. Font Help

Looks like Rockwell, stretched and arched. Love....Jill
  14. Wife and kids are away

Good for you! Don't get too model-perfect because you will inspire her to add to your collection of children! :) Love....Jill
  15. you know this is the truth

:ROFLMAO: Soooo true. Oh God please someone just shoot me. :ROFLMAO: Love....Jill
  16. Chalkboard paint and Vinyl?

^ this is exactly what I would suggest. Vinyl is not gonna stick to the chalkboard paint. When I do chalkboards, I use a paint mask, lay that down first, lightly Scotchbrite my surface (I usually use factory-finished MDO), wipe clean with 91% alcohol, then apply a few coats of chalkboard...
  17. Gold Leaf Help

If you can find another can of Rolco, grab it, as they had to halt production due to damage from Superstorm Sandy. Try using a SwirlyQ brush for pulling long lines. I prefer Ronan lettering enamel's black over that of 1Shot.
  18. Preserve old hand painted sign

If they are going to hang it indoors I would agree to just a gentle cleaning. I would worry about any top coat yellowing. You could maybe try car wax but I would even worry about that turning a funky color. Love....Jill
  19. Gold Leaf Help

I think you are not waiting long enough to gild, and also applying your size a bit too thick. Always make a test panel (you can use anything, like a tin can lid) at the same time you do your sizing, so you are dragging your knuckle on the test panel rather than your "good" piece. If using a...
  20. The most overused font in 2013 is.....

I am already getting sick of Mission Script, and I really liked it. So much, in fact, that I used it on my daughter's wedding RSVPs. I tried Alex Brush for her wedding signs and lo and behold now I see it everywhere. I'm also totally sick of Bleeding Cowboys (stillll) and though I love Chuck...
