C5 Services$ Repair: I agree with you trained techs are well worth the money and I have used their services a number of times. James McGill was one of the best techs I ever used and he travels from Kentucky to Florida and all the states in between and he is knowledgeable and has very fair...
  2. Need Help Is my head gone?

Roland Printers do not like to sit for day's without being used! I have leaned this lesson the hard way. Today my yellow and magenta would not print so once again I took out all of my spare parts such has cap tops, dampers, hoses of different sizes, and other parts. Anytime you have the heads...
  3. Need Help Is my head gone?

This is a cap top issue where it is not making a good seal between the the head and the cap top and it is letting air into it when it is not in use so thus the ink is draining down and drying out the head. Also change the two springs under the cap top because once get stretched they no longer...
  4. Need Help SP300V problems after maintenance

Did you replace the two springs under the cap top? When they get stretched they no longer apply the correct pressure against the cap tops when the heads are parked and that can cause the air leak you have. Jim
  5. Suggestions Replacing captops idea!

That is a cleaver idea when you are in a pinch and don't have a replacement spring handy!!! The kiss of death is when they get stretched out because then they loose there tension and really don't do anything.
  6. Suggestions Replacing captops idea!

I called Digiprint Supplies in Miami and told them I had an SP-300V and they send me the correct length springs. Once I compared the New springs with the old springs I could see that the old springs were stretched out and were longer which means the New springs had more force in them to push...
  7. Suggestions Replacing captops idea!

Many users use OEM cap tops and others use after market cap tops and for a while I was having a problem with the after market cap tops sealing the head properly. After changing cap tops a few times I realized that the problem was not the after market cap tops!!! Now I replace just the two...
  8. Are these nozzles gone forever?

Mata: In my case it was also only Magenta and Cyan also. One easy way to check for you are getting a good cap top seal is to connect a syringe to the hose on the bottom of the Magenta and Cyan cap top and if it is sealing correctly you should only have to slowly pull back on the syringe once...
  9. Are these nozzles gone forever?

Do not give up just yet!!! I know you said you changed cap tops last week but were they Roland OEM or after market cap tops? If I were you based on the test prints you showed I would change the cap tops again until the test print improves. Cap tops are interesting because some fit perfectly...
  10. Pulling ink from below cap tops question

Yes both heads are working perfectly now. Thanks Jim
  11. Question SP300V can't find fuse

The fuse is located right near that ribbon cable with the number 3 on it. Some fuses are soldered on the main board and some are plug in fuses. In either case the fuses are very very small in size which make them hard to work on. You do not need to remove the fuse if you follow the instructions...
  12. Suggestions SP-300V status not connected

Problem solved. It was the USB cable that went bad. A fast trip down to a store for a new one for $7.00 bucks and I was back in business again. Jim
  13. Suggestions SP-300V status not connected

My SP-300V was printing fine yesterday and today I receive an error message that the printer is not connected. I have tired changing USB ports and restarting the computer without any success. Next I was going to order a new Belkin Pro Series USB 2.0 cable and see if that corrects the problem. I...
  14. Question Problems with print heads drying up within a few days

I finally think I have figured out the problem with the one head not working properly. An after market cap top that was not sitting properly and making a tight seal with the head. I replaced it with another after market cap tops and this one so far is working properly and I was able to draw...
  15. Need Help Ink leakage while cleaning. XF-640

Check the dampers to see if maybe one blew out the side of it. This can happen with a super high powered cleaning. It is a simple fix to change the damper but the clean up from the ink takes some time. Best of luck Jim
  16. Question Problems with print heads drying up within a few days

Both prints heads are less then a year old. I admit I do not use the printer everyday. But now I start and print each day just to keep the heads working properly. If I don't do this everyday the test prints show a lot of drop out. I have checked the capping station to make sure it is sealing...
  17. Pulling ink from below cap tops question

VanderJ: I believe what I am feeling is a clogged head. It is printing some but there is a lot of drop out so I am soaking the heads for 24 hours to try and free it up. The magenta and yellow side is starting to look better with each test print so I am hopeful I can free the head up. Thanks...
  18. Pulling ink from below cap tops question

I notice when I try to pull ink from the hoses under each cap top with my syringe slowly there seems to be a back pressure and not much ink is coming out into the syringe. I can feel this pressure almost like a vacuum type of pressure. What would cause this to happen? I have the heads lowered...
  19. Fuse question

I am having a problem with my M&Y head. The magenta color prints perfect but I cannot get the Yellow to print. I have changed both cap tops along with the yellow damper. I pulled the yellow from the cartridge to the damper with a syringe and it filled up the damper. I have also tried pulling...
