how short is your run? you could get them screen printed. depends on what you mean by durable. will these get beat up pretty badly? do you mean fade proof? scratch proof?
so you wanted to get a thread going where we'd have a serious "sign" talk then you post a ton of strange and stupid photos. doesn't that kind of defeat the purpose?
45 to 60 days isn't as bad as the 120 days people. they also seem to be the ones that require that you submit your survey with all photos to a portal or you wont' get paid
refuse the job as it wasn't set up for the building's needs. should have been done on rails painted to match the building which Gemini will do. also the studs should have been done in line so they can be mounted to the rails. why deal with other people's messes?
yes we get our price for a survey when it is done with a customer and yes there are a ton of people who will run out and do it for free as they think it is part of doing business. it would be interesting to hear from those people as to why they don't feel like that is a service they can charge for.
by other shops setting the price are you talking about doing a survey for a national sign company? if so, yep they do set their own costs. we've gotten some where they will pay $35.00 to drive to Brattleboro which is at the other end of the state and $35 wouldn't even cover our hourly rate...
well nothing was done, nothing completed. they received nothing. the fact that they paid in advance only means they they expected to have something done for that money but their own guys messed up. will you letter their truck once they do come in for the money you all ready have been paid to...
nope, can't say I've ever run into anything like that. we don't bulk everything together and we do pre-cut what was agreed on. with that siad, any changes are an up charge. since you didn't do anything, why would you feel , like it was OK to keep the money?
have to ask, do you have any sources for your sign materials? noticed a vendor request for a stop sign which is pretty strange. this site also has merchant memebers that do electrical sign, try one of them
my worst on was on a sign for a weight limit on a bridge and I spelled strictly "strickly". the local paper took a photo of it and it was on the front page of the local news, ugh. in my defense, I made the sign on a 4B no spell check back then ;)
of course it is real art. paint brush in hand or on screen, it still takes an artist to create art, plain and simple. if computer programs were all you needed to put out art, we wouldn't see so many horrid signs
