  2. VJ 1204 troubleshooting

May or may not be able to recover those without some serious elbow grease and a little luck. If that is the same head since 2008 it may just be time for a new one...
  3. Keeping the coals glowing...what inspires you this time of year?

I hate to see it slow down, but the reality is I need it. My business is way up over last year, but I pushed myself pretty hard this year and have been fighting a pinched sciatic nerve for the last 2 months. (sucks doesn't begin to describe it..) Anyway, aside from the down-time, I like...

  5. Up and coming young adult in the sign industry

I agree with Pat's comments above as your comment here concerns me... I realize your overhead may be low, but you have to be aware of your local pricing AND charge a fair price. So I am hoping those wraps you did were close to what other sign shops would charge in your area and not like...
  6. Better quality Prints

The Mutoh's do a really good job regarding quality for what they are. (Outdoor printer.) If you're looking for a good paper try the Sihl 3686 Trisolv. Prints great on my Mutoh. However, I know photographers and sometimes nothing is good enough. These printers aren't really made to print...
  7. Finally bought a roll of 8518

I've been using it for 2+ years now and it's always been like that. BTW - love it, looks great.
  8. 1204 Printing like crap please help

As others have asked, what does your nozzle check look like? (Do this first - if you have missing nozzles you need to start there.) It's hard to tell from your pics but that reminds me of banding I've seen on my 1204 when the PF (print feed) isn't adjusted correctly. Individual materials...
  9. Broken ink suction part

It's called a manifold, and yes I would replace the whole thing. http://www.yessolvent.com/solvent-print-head-manifold-for-mutoh-valuejet/
  10. new to Mimaki-Wasatch

A friend of mine has a JV5 at their shop and use it on the lower settings as output speed is more critical than quality for what they do. As was said, the JV5 is almost too fast for it's own good. So, they opted for an external dryer/heater system to help cure the prints as they come off...
  11. 1204 Printing like crap please help

Are these marks going horizontal (same direction as head travels) or vertical? Looks like a banding issue, which I would assume is a problem with the PF adjust setting.
  12. I am losing my best friend

Eric, very sorry to hear that and I hope for the best. I just put my english field cocker "Ernie" down 2 months ago. He was my shadow, road trip buddy and best friend for 14 years. It's amazing how attached we become to our pets...
  13. Jesse KILLS IT

I vote for Jr. - and no, not a fan of his either. But when you look at overall creativity, (without going way out of left field like Sr. - WTF space snowmobile?!?!?) originality and workmanship Jr's bike wins. Too bad Jesse didn't try to do something a little more original.
  14. Recommended paper for solvent printer?

I've had very good results with Sihl trisolv paper - I think it's the 3686 I've been using. Grimco carries it here. Has a very nice satin finish, not glossy, not matte. It nearly looks like a photo off my Mutoh.
  15. Verizon Droid Phones...Which One to get?

Agreed, I've had the regular Samsung Galaxy for about a year and a half (Verizon) and it has been a great phone. I really like the AMOLED display - way brighter and sharper picture than any other phones. However, the ability to have 4G would be sweet and is the only thing I would want on my...
  16. Media Set Problem on ValueJet 1624???

I've had this happen once or twice on my 1204 - simply put a piece of white vinyl over the sensor. *Only thing is you have to be careful when approaching end of rolls as it will think there is material in there when there is not and keep printing.
  17. Cleaning problem

More than likely your drain lines are blocked/plugged with dried ink. You need to rinse the lines with cleaning fluid to clear the blockage.
  18. NEVER gets old....David Smith

    I'm absolutely in awe...speechless.
  19. Small shop trying to get first printer.

I would strongly urge you NOT to consider a Falcon series printer. If you go with Mutoh, you really need to look at a Valuejet model. If you read some of the posts here in the Mutoh section, you will see LOTS of posts about people having problems with the Falcon series. They are old...
