  1. Revamp time....

    Bravo Joe! :U Rock:
  2. Sign Business trends

Other than an unexpected wrap of a full size van which was approved yesterday, it's been pretty "meh". Can't complain as I had a good August/September/October.
  3. Bordeaux Valuejet?

If you're "looking" for options for 3rd party ink - drop me a line. I switched over the summer and have thus far been very pleased with the results on my 1204. *If you're specifically looking for opinions on Bordeaux ink, sorry.
  4. How do 3rd party inks ruin your printer?

The price you pay for ink is higher because you're paying for a premium name and all the marketing/advertising/promotional stuff and lots of other things that 3rd party/generics don't. I'm not saying they "CAN'T" sell it to you cheaper - they just won't because they don't have to.
  5. How do 3rd party inks ruin your printer?

Similar reason as why Coke & Pepsi are more expensive than generic grocery brand sodas.
  6. Vertical coroplast trimmer, keencut -vs- fletcher -vs- neolt

Uh, before you do that Mike - give me a call. I'm sure we can work something out.
  7. Hey 1618 & 1624 users! HELP!!

I've only got a lowly 1204, but I'll throw in my .02¢... I don't know how big of an issue speed is for you. If speed is king, go with the 1618 as it is rated for 480 sq ft/hr vs 313 sq ft/hr for the 1624. But if it were me I'd go for the 1624, here's why; - Overall improved machine with...
  8. mutoh 1304 resolution question

Pretty sure that highest speed on the 1204/1304/1604 was around 140 sq ft per hour. I know I have some 540 settings in Wasatch - just can't recall what exactly they are as I print most everything in 720 mode. *The newer 1324 prints at 300 sq ft/hour.
  9. help! wrinkles laminating

Yup, totally agree with Gary on this one. I've been with him and witnessed it done. It is more time consuming and wastes a bit more material, but a good way to guarantee your prints won't wrinkle. That said, I usually don't sled as I have figured out the "sweet spot" on my laminator...
  10. Since I was called out.......................

Yeah, I was out installing signs yesterday and looky at all I missed. :help
  11. Two Mutoh 1304's for sale. $5995 each.

Man PW, that is tempting... Let me talk to my accountant and see if I need some more write-offs...
  12. Van Pricing, Where would you be?

Very interesting to read all these opinions on pricing. Personally, I believe to be a good salesman/businessman in selling our products we have to know and understand the customer/situation in each and every transaction -AND- current trends in pricing for our individual markets. While there...
  13. Now Hiring.

DON'T DO IT GARY!!! Think of all the wonderful things you'll miss here in Ohio, like.....uhm....and the......uhm ok, well how about.......crud. Nevermind.
  14. Big Squeegee Lamination Question

Oh, my 30" I can do 1-handed no problem all day and is MUCH faster and easier than loading up a laminator. (When you said 4' print I was thinking width) You just need to practice a bit and make sure you have a truly flat table to do it on. Unless you have really short arms you should be able...
  15. Big Squeegee Lamination Question

Laminating large prints (4x6 or larger) using the BS and 210 is tricky at best. Therefore, I pretty much put anything 4x6 or larger on my laminator. *Before I got a laminator I found no easy way that the 210 backer will roll ahead by itself. I always had a helper pull the backer ahead of me...
  16. Mutoh VJ-1304, network interface failure

Agree with Compilla. Even though I run an all Mac shop, we still have 1 lonely PC that handles the rip for our Mutoh and also the cut software for our Summa. (Though it does nothing else.) ;-) If you can/can't get a ping, you know the answer.
  17. Anyone doing any letterpress?

Stephen, before getting into signs I spent 15+ years in the offset printing industry starting in 1992. Even back then letterpress was rare, but like you, I was drawn to it because of what it was. (Love that video that FireSprint posted, I've watched it for years and it never gets old to me.)...
  18. 1604 banding problem

Going to need more information... What does your nozzle check look like? Do you have your PF adjustment calibrated for the type of material you're printing? Have you cleaned your rails lately? When you say "thump" have you tracked it down to what is making it? Again, more details please.
  19. Very good tool to have and the price is right

Pretty cool - though I'm still used to cloning.
