  2. How do you find good employees?

Find someone who is curious, but wants to learn the ins and outs of the work. Train someone, don't expect them to know all you do. See what they bring to the table. I brought a label company to process color from spot color, on my word. I was slow, inaccurate, but I got the job done 300 times...
  3. I think my good name....

    Contact the supplier personally.
  4. Acrobat software too good to be true

The thing is with academic software and trade work, eventually, you love the product and have to buy it legit, or do a lot of work around to not pay the full commercial price, and the software companies know it. They also charge a lot more than the software is actually worth to compensate...
  5. Acrobat software too good to be true

Generally, these guys skirt the issue, and the author/distributors don't care much, it is a part of business, scummy as it is.
  6. My Daughter and Grandson were on TV

Nice!! That would be a cool thing to see on higher levels, you ought to be rightly proud of him :) Most importantly, he appears to be a well grounded young man.
  7. Bicycles...............

My suggestion, take the old ross, ask the guy who can fix it to put together a good set of wheels for you, it will take you further than you could ever think. I used to ride with people who had far better name bikes, but I had better wheels, its not who you know, its how they roll :)

  15. Best vector for the $$

Any vector program should do. If all you are doing is straight vectors, buy Corel Draw, I bought X4 for 40 bux on Ebay, complete with serial. Is it better than Illustrator? some yes, some no. I used/still use Freehand (V3-MX) and it is a great program. Some hate it. it is all what you get used...
  16. customer wants .pdf what would you do?

I send security pdfs, they cannot be edited, and only print at 150 DPI, they need a password to change it. It is simple to do with untrusted clients. (I'm in offset/digital printing)
  17. If you love letters, check this out

PLINC had the best library. If they had 1/5 of them on that site, it would be really cool, but a hand full of fonts, that you can actually purchase, what is the point, right? The idea behind PLINC was to use fonts for projects, but not buy the whole font. Some great fonts came out from them to...
  18. If you love letters, check this out

PLINC had the largest type library in the western world. when they closed in the mid to late 80's they had 12,000 fonts. They were a service to the advertising industry of Madison Avenue. They did all sorts of great stuff. What they did, they did best, and most expensive. In the late 60's a...
  19. Bleeding Cowboys PSA

Hack Hack Hack. The guy is a hack. See, he knows he is not brite, so he is just conning people, because, as Fredric Goudy put it "the old fellows, they stole all our good ideas," He can't compete so he uses filters/doodads/trickery over good thought. UGGH. Fonts have always been this way...
