  1. Short run NCR forms = DIY

There are a lot of "digital" options, but until you get to that point (and even afterwards) I would suggest picking a bright colored piece of paper and using that color of paper for work orders ONLY. We have a digital work order system here, but we still print out an order for every job. The...
  2. Tough one...

Looks pretty simple, something like Serifa should be good.
  3. Two big packages arrived today!

I am not privy to that info, I do know it was an SGIA show special price.
  4. What is a used 54" SP 540 V Roland Print cut worth

Well, you wont be using the cutter feature of a printer to do wraps OR banners, so if that is your primary need for a p/c printer I would think again. Depending on one machine for both printing and cutting makes it a pain; if you're in the middle of a wrap print (which will take ALL day or...
  5. Two big packages arrived today!

Great news for you! We are taking delivery of a new HP360 this coming week & also a new GFP laminator! What are the pertinent questions that I need to ask the techs while they are here?
  6. What is a used 54" SP 540 V Roland Print cut worth

Get a used plotter off craigslist, there's always some on there & buy a new machine. New Epsons can be had for under $10,000 & latex for only a couple thousand more. Remember you're also going to have to invest in a laminator soon.
  7. Are vehicle wraps in decline?

The company I work for has been here for almost 20 years doing 99% vehicle graphics. We probably put graphics on 5-10,000 vehicles per year, and I would say that besides yard signs we only run about 50-100 jobs per year that are "signs". It started out with hand lettering and hand-cut vinyl...

  9. Cement Truck Decal help, not sure what material to use

yes, we DO use 3M edge seal (in the can) on the drum. for install on the drum, you have to turn it on REAL slow and squeegee quick!
  10. Are vehicle wraps in decline?

Apparently you just aren't marketing to the demographic searching for wraps. People are buying them all day. We are printing more wraps now than ever, along with more partial wraps, cut vinyl jobs, etc, etc. - The problem nowadays is staying in your customer's mind for when they decide they...
  11. Cement Truck Decal help, not sure what material to use

We have put standard 3M 180c with 8519 lam and also 3M 680 (reflective) with 8519 laminate on hundreds of these w/o any troubles. by the time the decals need replacing the customers are repainting the drums.
  12. Need a Mimaki Tech

I know he may be a bit far but our local Mimaki tech is independent so he is cheaper than most, even with travel involved. Chris Wallace 513-317-3351

  14. Does anyone recognize this camo design?

It looks like an old Aurora Graphics Camo fill pattern (real ugly!)
  15. Dodge Ram hood stripes

Either get out the knifeless tape or buy a pre-cut set. I know that restylerschoice used to sell kits at wholesale rates to sign shops when I used to do striping.
  16. Whenever I don't access the hard drive for 45 minutes or so it goes off-line?

X2 on being sure you have a quality NAS system and also an offsite backup running. We had a cheaper setup similar to your before and had drive failure issues and almost lost all of our data due to the local supposedly backup drive not really replicating the data. We upgraded to a multi-drive...
  17. wiper seems to be getting jammed!!

Take the back panel off of the machine behind the parking area. check to see where all the black ink has gotten into and clean it out. I can't remember doing any recent firmware updates to our machines, unless the tech did one when he upgraded us to Onyx 11... so that may also be part of your...
  18. Ice Rink Graphics

ANY type of mesh should work fine for under-ice graphics. We just finished the local rink here - WHEW! That is the biggest P.I.T.A. project we have all year; over 400 different printed pieces in one project... and EVERY piece of art came in at the wrong size, w/o bleeds, etc, etc. FUN TIMES!
  19. Problems with Duracoat Foils

Sounds like to high of pressure on the foil. Try telling it that you are printing on a different type of vinyl or foil color. (lie to the machine, lol) I do this on one of our edges here, I ALWAYS tell it that I am printing on 220 regardless of if i am actually printing on 280 or specialty...
  20. Small setup for printing Vinyl decals

I would look into purchasing a used Gerber Edge setup for what you are doing unless you are focusing on "miniature wraps". it would have great efficiency and accuracy for tiny decals like yours.
