  1. Is an old JV3 still a useable machine in a modern sign shop

We have two JV3s here. They both run all day & night every day and make us a great amount of money. They are a bit slower than the modern machines, but they JUST RUN. As long as you clean them weekly they seem to run forever, ours must have millions of miles on them as they've been here for 12...
  2. Photoshop text actual size work path and transform box size issues.

Can't you just place the template into photoshop? (one side/view at a time) Your post has me confused...
  3. Wrapping ATV's & Snowmobiles Need Your Opinions

Wrap it with something like convex (or cheaper aggressive material), then wrap over it with the mossy oak camo vinyl.
  4. Best Efficiency Improving Tips for your Sign Shop

Looked into it and everything else out there. it wasn't cheap, but nothing else seemed to fit perfectly or work with how things work here. There is a LOT to the software, everything in the whole process is included. It wasn't all implemented at the same time; but grew/changed organically a lot...
  5. Roland SP-540 "Now Heating..." never shuts off

What temperature is the heater set to? We used to have a problem with our Mimaki here where the heater was actually set too low. The heater temp was set to below the ambient room temp, so the heater couldn't "cool" and the printer would await the impossible proper temperature to begin printing.
  6. brush style script ID

It looks like it's not a font, but if you can search by similarity, then Rapier and Sarah Script are kind of close.
  7. Best Efficiency Improving Tips for your Sign Shop

We crossed the threshold of TOO MANY orders to keep a paper schedule. We had to have custom software made to fit our workflow here, it cost around $15,000 but has saved a lot more than that obviously. We have an online visual schedule with drag & drop capabilities. Everything about the job is...
  8. Need printer plotter advice

I don't care what you've heard or who says what here. YOU HAVE TO LAMINATE PRINTS OF ANY KIND FOR LONG-TERM OUTDOOR USE. That being said (SCREAMED), having an all-in-one machine is more of a pain than two-separate machines. A printer & plotter do not have to be the same brand either as long as...
  9. Best Efficiency Improving Tips for your Sign Shop

A huge time-saver I have found for problems like these that helps improve the day's workflow is a 15 minute solution I always try to do every day: Call the customers TODAY who are supposed to be bringing vehicles by for installation tomorrow. This allows us to confirm their installation for the...
  10. Rant

95% of our customers pay for an "end product" of a vehicle wrap, it is one total price for a completed project. For most projects/customers this is acceptable. For the other 5% of our customers a breakdown of our materials separately from our labor rate is required. As one is taxed And the other...
  11. New York Maker Faire

If any of you are going the New York Maker Faire this weekend, try to stop by the GorillaMaker 3D Printers Booth (under the tent) and say hello! We will be showcasing our latest printers and also our new line of ABS filaments. ALL of our products are 100% MADE IN THE USA, including our...
  12. double sided magnetics? is it possible?

I was going to post this also, but another option would be to use hook & loop (velcro) strips and a piece of sintra/coro with double-sided print. It'd be a lot cheaper also and would not fall off if the machinery vibrates.
  13. Scripty Dipty Do?

Calling on the font gods for a bit of help with this one! (I ought ta know this one...)
  14. Mimaki JF 1631 Technician?

Call Chris Wallace at 513-317-3351. He is an independent Mimaki tech here in the Cincinnati area.
  15. Epson GS6000 Pros & Cons What to look for on a used purchase???

Colorburst always worked well for me when I used the GS6000. It printed great every day for the two years I had it and hardly ever needed maintenance. the original green inks had a bad mix to them that killed the green print head, but ours was replaced under warranty for free. The new...
  16. wrapping extreme corners.

ProVehicleOutlines.com has the templates you need to get your square footage. Lots of heat and patience to get those extreme corners; they aint easy or everyone would be a master installer.
  17. could you apply a 2ml vinyl to a wall graphic film?

What shape are you considering custom cutting out of this "vinyl sandwich"?
  18. Frost/ Etch - Eco Solvent Printable Media

We print on the 3M stuff just fine here with our solvent Mimaki. I will have to try the other materials, air release would be nice!
  19. what material/brand is this??

I saw that too. Maybe that is the mystery material - translucent stainless steel?
  20. what material/brand is this??

If it is a thin poly(?) sheet, it could be printed double-sided and then a 2-sided adhesive applied after that. The adhesive would be the part with the blue liner. You can also print on clear vinyl and laminate it with a printed (white adhesive) vinyl. Contour cutting seems like it might be a...
