  1. Logo Opinions

Just curious as to why you are unwilling to change it? Is it because you already made the business cards? You know those are pretty cheap to reprint. I don't think your logo is terrible, but I do think it could use some work. I would tell you what I would change, but it doesn't sound like...
  2. printing on canvas

Yeah, recently we've been doing a bunch of printing on canvas. One project was for a local restaurant. We're taking old historic photos of the area and printing them on canvas. I Like the way they turned out so much, that I think I'm going to print some stuff for my studio/guestroom in my house.
  3. New Logo

Steampunk makes sense. This design is actually Victorian inspired design. But since steampunk is also Victorian era inspired, there definitely could be a connection. The earth-tone browns and brass looking colors also play a role. If gears, pipes or rivets were incorporated, it would...
  4. Any Suggestion ?

I agree 100% with Jill. I think it would send the wrong message to potential clients.
  5. Da-da-da-dum... It's official! Critique my logo?

What you have described is called "New Printer Syndrome". It's when a sign maker or designer gets a new piece of equipment like a printer that allows them to throw everything but the kitchen sink at the design so they feel they have to. A lot of people have experienced New Printer Syndrome...
  6. Copy right or trademark logos illegal

Nahhhh. That would be too much work. Why actually spend time creating something original and being creative when you can just profit from someone else's hard work and not even show them the slightest bit of courtesy by at the very least asking if it's okay if you make money off of their hard...
  7. Another Logo with the Ribbon Effect

Well, believe it or not I just learned the client doesn't want to go with this concept, but I plan on finishing the video anyway. But I'm beginning to think that any design I do with a ribbon effect will be cursed from the get go. I tried to sell her on it, but you can't force them to go with...
  8. Another Logo with the Ribbon Effect

We have worked with the local welding company in the past. However, we do have one already made that we purchased from Cam Bortz, a fellow letterhead. That one may be perfect for this project. It has a bit of a different design though. The client is supposed to stop in any moment so we can...
  9. Copy right or trademark logos illegal

Why not? It's their property. And when it comes to licences I would imagine limiting the amount of licensed distributors would be easier for a company to manage. Their priorities lie with their brand, not how successful everyone else business is. If you can't get a licence or permission then...

  11. Copy right or trademark logos illegal

I personally think having the mentality that you or someone else used to do it at one time, or a bunch of other people still do it today, so I should have the right to do it now, isn't the right way to look at it. I also personally think the fear of being sued isn't enough, because you will...
  12. Another Logo with the Ribbon Effect

Yeah it was intentional. Ideally I would have loved to have the tail of the "u" flow into the "e" better. However, what I ended up doing was use the same "u" and "e" shapes that appear earlier in the script to keep things consistent. What also happened was my dad hand lettered a series of...
  13. Copy right or trademark logos illegal

You can get permission or a licence to sell copyrighted content from the owner of that copyright. In other words the "rights" to "copy" it.
  14. Another Logo with the Ribbon Effect

After stepping away from it for awhile and coming back to it, I think I see what you mean. Is this better: That's sometimes the trouble with doing scripts. The one color version is a little clearer though. Regardless I think it will do the job. I can read the thumbnail.
  15. Another Logo with the Ribbon Effect

Here is the sign concept. We'll probably end up changing the top part if we end up doing a hanging sign at all. Our downtown sign code won't allow for hanging projecting signs over a certain size, however we have applied for a variance in the past.
  16. Another Logo with the Ribbon Effect

We started with a hand painted script, then I gave it the old ribbon effect. I've recorded the whole process, When I'm done with the project I'll have to post it up on Youtube.
  17. Adobe Muse

I have mixed feelings about these types of programs. First, I would love to be able to just design, and not worry about the hassle of coding. It sure would make my job a lot easier and more fun. SO for that reason, I'm excited about programs like this. (Corel has recently released a web...
