  1. Cutter maintenance

you can buy pinchweels on ebay for a few bucks. Ours had a flat spot also... Think we spent like $15 and it took a few minutes to replace them all on our graphtec. I'm sure its not as good quality as OEM parts... but it's worked perfectly for us, and beat paying the $30/40 for each wheel our...
  2. (Latex 560/570) Which direction do you spool your takeup?

Yes. Easily. Love our 560. For the price range it can't be matched.
  3. Fc9000 review... somebody please, anyone

Are you sure sai is going to make drivers for summas next generation cutter? This isn't really a graphtec decision, it's a flexi decision... I'm sure if the new summa needs a new driver, it also wont be added.... it's not up to graphtec, or Summa on whether a rip adds support for an older...
  4. Fc9000 review... somebody please, anyone

That could be... I always thought summa was equivlant these days, but our grimco tech told me for reflective, nothing can beat the graphtec. the added pinch roller, and something about how the system grabs reflective better than summa, which leads to less skew. But everyone has their...
  5. Interesting dilemma

When was your pantone book last switched out? You're "Supposed" to switch them out every year. Odds of them fading that quickly are slim, unless you keep them outdoors...we usually buy a new one every year and compare our most used colors, and swap the old ones out after a few years. Not that...
  6. Fc9000 review... somebody please, anyone

What do you like about the Summa that you didn't like about the graphtec? You do a lot of volume, so it'd be interesting to know! Everyone I've talked to, all our vendors and their techs tell us graphtec is the way to go. I was leaning towards summa for the roll to roll, but now that graphtec...
  7. Fc9000 review... somebody please, anyone

Why dont you use graphtecs plugin for Corel/illustrator? It adds the marks to the print...and then you just print it in whatever rip you currently have. I find it way, way better than using a rip to do the cutting... I can go back into illustrator and edit the cut file if I want to change...
  8. Vinyl graphics on matte paint?

You're going to use 3105ht on a freshly painted vehicle? Even if it's of gassed for a month.... Expect the paint to come off whenever you remove the vinyl! I'd stick to ij40 or equivalent... It should stick just fine.
  9. Need Help Scratching/Peeling! Yikes! Lamp power for FB500 coroplast?

Coro gets treated with a corona. There's cheap Coro and there's special Coro made fornuv printing. As Coro gets older the plasticizer starts to seep through also, old.coro doesn't print well. I'd try a different brand Coro and see what your results are. Also.. how scratch resistant are...
  10. Best Vinyl/Lam Combo for Print/Cut Vehicle lettering

It's the air release as well as the gummy 8518 that doesn't like small cuts. The backer doesn't hold onto small letters very well either. When we have to, we use 180:8518 and we don't weed the small stuff... Put it on the vehicle and then weed it. Once the vinyl is sticking to a material...
  11. Vinyl Lettering Not Sticking to Spray Painted Bus Van

If you're using 3m vinyl you could primer 94 it. I've heard it doesn't work with oracal... Not sure about the rest. It'll leave a finish wherever there isn't vinyl... Unless you make a template and apply it only under the letters. Or use a really high tac vinyl. OraJet 3105ht has worked well...
  12. Latest setup for dimensional letter installs...

See that christmas tree in the corner there?Thats where you kick all the dust from drilling, Much cheaper! How loud is it? shop vac loudness? Most of the time we cant even use a vacuum because its in an office and they complain... so we just use a broom and wet cloth to do the best we can.
  13. Help with new printer purchase

I disagree. We print a ton of police vehicles. Every year we have to replace 4-5 sections on different vehicles... And each time all 3 custom colors are a perfect match. Doesn't matter if it's a vehicle we did a year ago, two years ago or a week ago... Everytime they abuse and crash the vehicle...
  14. Help with new printer purchase

You guys look at this all wrong. How many of you go out and cut the grass infront of your business instead of pay a landscaper? If you can do it... go for it. Yes, printing is different. Wrapping even harder... But if OP wants to spend $20-30,000 on equipment to try... Let him. Worst...
  15. I think I am in the wrong business

This is why I will never eat organic. we need to find another way to save the bees because if this ever happened to me, I'm going on a 100% meat diet.
  16. 360 and Onyx

I find mine stops working after my printer goes to sleep. If it sleeps and then wakes up while onyx is still open, it wont automatically poll anymore...and if you manually poll it'll say there is no media loaded. We've used onyx 10, 12, Latex 110, 310, 360, and 560 and all of them have...
  17. Help with new printer purchase

Latex is pretty much one of the only choices I'd consider for a machine that's not run every single day. Solvents don't like to be idle... They go through tons of cleanings and the heads like to dry/clognif not used for an extended Time. We let our solvent sit for a week or two over.xmas...
  18. Stay CS6? Or Upgrade to CC? What am I gaining?

You know you.can install cc on 2 computers at once right? Benefit of cc vs cs6:. If cs6 works fine for you... Nothing. Only thing I'd say is compatibility. I like to use cm4 to cut my files... Cm4 doesn't work with illustrator 2020 yet... Released 2-3 weeks ago?, so I'm on 2019. Every...
  19. Recovery Software

I have instant backup. But it's not my only backup. I admit I do raid 0, which scares some people But raid 5 takes too long to recover from, and I do similiar to raid 1.. just with another device. I have 2x 8 TB on a Nas, and everyone stores their files there. The moment a file gets saved...
  20. Discussion Which would you prefer.................

I rarely boot so I don't actually time it or care. My home pc has a raid card and 18 hds. It takes roughly 60 seconds to get into windows with an ssd just because I have them spinning up staggered instead of all at once. My work pc it seems like as soon as I hit restart it boots instantly to...
