You could ask the customer if there are layers or if it is all one smooth piece. That should tell you quickly if it is printed. It will look shiney if it was printed on chrome.
I know that it is probably listed here somewhere, but I am going to ask anyways... Where do you guys get your templates? Do you buy them somewhere or do you make them yourselves?
I have been using a Workhorse Products TransQuick digital press for about 4 years now and never had a problem. It is the digital version and was around $850 I think.

I know I have used Hexis material and they have a special gel for removing the graffiti or marker. I don't know what else you would use. Maybe acetone or something like that.
I guess my main mission with a new printer was to get a 6 color printer. So I guess it all else fails, I can still do that. I was thinking of doing what you did artbot and just having clear cartridges in the white and silver slot until I need to use them. If that would work I guess.
