I second Mosh, I started with a 30" and wish I had a 54" about a month later.

Liquecolor shows that they have 2 different versions for the #83 HP cartridge. One that is for microporous at $169 each and one that is not for $99 each. From what I have read, the cheaper one sounds like crap, but then there is no point switching for the little you save with the other one...

Hey Josh, What are your aftermarket inks? What are they per cartridge?

Trying to get you to use their solvent ink again? I know I haven't heard many good things about their solvent line, but it seems their aqueous line is okay.

How often do the print heads last? How many cartridges? I just talked with a guy from Lexjet and he said their inks are made by Dupont.

Of those of you using an HP5500, do any of you use an aftermarket ink? And if so, what brand are you using and would you recommend it? Thanks!

Why would you use aftermarket in a new printer? Especially since it is totally new and bound to have problems when a new product first hits the streets.

So of those that have used this type of printer, would you recommend an HP 5500ps? 60" UV ink model?

I also use Solaris and love it. I think it looks better than OEM. I get mine from Ciber Supply. Talk to Bobby, he is cheaper than Fellers. (and a merchant member here)

I have had very good luck with little effort printing on silver metallic vinyl. I have found that calendared vinyl works the best.

Interesting. Thank you for your info. I figured it would be a good idea to get some feedback before I bought one. I do like how the HP heads are user replaceable. I would love to find a 60" 5500 UV with postscript.

Mine did this when I changed the dampers as well. With mine, it was that the cable going into the head came loose.
