  1. In need of 3M 680 Blue reflective

The 3M 680 is worth every penny IMHO. I have worked with all of it before and I love, love, love the 3m reflective. We usually only buy 680 in white 48" rolls though for larger prints. Anything smaller like 15"x1yd we buy rolls of 280, and we go through I would say 2 rolls a week of blue/light...
  2. Truck tool box

Spare torch tank, squeegees, extra olfa blades, extra scraper blades, paper towels. Pretty much anything that you have in your daily install kit (besides the expensive 3m tools, lol) I would put a duplicate of in there.
  3. Any Freelance Wrap Designers?

(skipping the other portion of the discussion for obvious reasons) I would recommend doing exactly what the OP is doing here; reaching out to a network of professionals in the industry for an independent designer. I do this type of work myself, hence why I repleted above. Having a competent...
  4. Problem with 3M vinyl

We do get an occasional bad roll here too, but I would assume that once you started weeding it that you wouldn't have continued if the roll/cut was bad.
  5. Any Freelance Wrap Designers?

While I hate 99designs and crowd-sourcing artwork I could possibly see how there is a market for that from the purchasers' prospective. And with bad economies around the world people will do anything to compete to make a few bucks. I have had a few customers decide not to pay me for logo design...
  6. lets play...who's fault is it

#1 - Paint should NOT be coming up with silicone or the wrap unless it was either painted RIGHT before they applied the silicone or even afterwards (???). This is the manufacturer's problem. #2 - Silicone can (and in a lot of case should) be removed and reapplied when a wrap is installed and/or...
  7. JV3-160 Printing 4 Coloured lines through the length of the Print

Replace your capping station screws with recess-mount screws. They are damaging your print heads; your black head is already ruined. I cannot see much in the sample print photo besides banding caused by the missing nozzles, so I assume that is what you are referring to.
  8. Current Cheapest JV3 160s Heads?

Just picked up another JV3 the other day, but it needs a couple new heads. Where is selling them for the best price nowadays? The JV3 is the 6-color, 3-headed beast.
  9. custom printed fence slats: how to do them?

I would also suggest thin pvc sheets and then rip them. I would suggest printing a very small part number at the top or bottom of every piece. I would think otherwise getting them out of order might be a nightmare.
  10. Anyone close to Texas City, Texas?

I need a bit of local help. Trying to purchase something on craigslist and the seller doesn't want to ship. I will pay and send a UPS call tag, but the seller isn't interested in boxing them up for shipping... and I am up in Kentucky. Anyone that is interested in lending me a hand?
  11. printing red/burgundy gradient on Roland SP540 from FlexiSign Pro

While I can't remember all of what you have to do in the output mananger I would recommend this as a possible gradient transition CMYK code. 0/100/100/0 to 50/100/100/25. When designing gradients, try to keep a "constant" in there to avoid the "weird middle areas" of some gradients. Keeping...
  12. WRAPSCON in Indianapolis next week - Anyone going?

Our local sales rep said that for a sign / vehicle graphics company there will be nothing new there. The show is still geared towards promotional items/products and unless we are interested in getting into that industry there's no reason to go. However, I might still try to make it over Friday...
  13. Refinishing fake stone signs

At first thought - I would use filler to fill the holes, then tape it off and use the "faux stone" spray paint around the edges. But, this isn't my usual cup of tea.
  14. WRAPSCON in Indianapolis next week - Anyone going?

wrappermapper.com was just blocked by my TrendMicro AntiVirus. Any idea why?
  15. Signmaker IVb: Error Message 14

If it can't find home then possibly the "home" sensor is going bad or dusty. I have had to replace the home sensor on a gerber 375 plotter in the past.
  16. Reel pro with edge fx

How much are you printing that you really need "unattended". We routinely do LONG Edge runs and even a 50yd run should only take a little bit. It's not like putting a 50yd roll on a wide format printer and letting it run overnight. I would recommend making a couple of nice catch baskets for...
  17. Wrap help

While I don't have an answer to your current dilemma, I have another suggestion for you: If you get this order, use the profits to purchase a subscription service to PVO. It will give you a permanent copy of the DVD of ALL vehicle templates and access to any new templates for a year. Also...
  18. Thoughts on this design

You can't really read it at all, even the word police is hard to read. It is also all scrunched up close together in that one area, leaving the rest of the side "empty". I would go with a secondary color/stroke of white to outline the letters with, and lose the arches(?) along the top.
  19. printed material sticking on the takeup

Are you SURE that none of the manufacturers sell a vinyl that is close enough in color for the customer to be happy? Many of the solid color wrapping vinyls have new colors out this year. With that much material and potential problems I would try to steer them in that direction. If the...
  20. Gerber Envision cutting poorly on long runs

Not sure how many are in your office, but double-check your blade under a loupe, it may have been dropped by a co-worker.
