  1. cutting plotter converted into LED laser cutter, possible...?

It would be pretty darn hard to use an existing plotter/rip convert into a laser. There is just so much proprietary firmware, etc that isn't public knowledge of how to control it. You are going to be better off with a laser cutter running on a flatbed surface. you could probably canibilize a...
  2. 8' x 16' Banner printed

I use this company every week for oversize banners we can't print in-house: http://www.signs101.com/forums/member.php?49948-GCI-DIGITAL-IMAGING Great prices! (so low you'll wonder why you still turn your printer on...) They used to be a merchant member here, not sure if they are still? I can't...
  3. Recycling Your Waste

The only thing that we have really been able to recycle successfully are our plastic roll shipping caps/stands. (the little plastic squares with plugs for core ends) A local school is taking them for recycling into plastic benches. Their program was originally targeted to get milk caps as they...
  4. VP 540 service call 0103

Did you get it fixed? What was it?
  5. Best method?

X2 on the laminator if you have enough room in your shop to do it. Once you learn to mount using a laminator you'll wonder what took you so long to try it! PERFECT mounting every time, just peel an inch and hand mount that and then run it through the laminator.
  6. 1 inch vertical stripe in print what would cause this?

Put another roll on and do a test print. It is bad media, call your vendor and have them replace the roll.
  7. Half Block Font

I would use a standard Helvetica font and manually distort the G (and O) after adjusting the arch. Some MFG's have their own fonts and you just can't get them.

i think this video will tell you what you need to fix it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooUcP0QfeaU Is Chris W. who you use for a tech? I didn't realize you aren't that far from me.
  10. Need advice on install

I think we order it by the roll from "The Cowboy" or Grimco. Auto parts stores and places like ACE sell it I assume, probably even WallyWorld has it in the tape or automotive section.
  11. Need advice on install

Yes, but I'd add one in the dead center also just for a bit of extra to be sure it doesn't bulge out. Countersink your screw heads. If they ever want to change the sign or remove it piano wire or fishing line will get it off the VHB.
  12. Need advice on install

Get a few drops/scraps of polymetal from around your shop and screw those to the wall. Apply VHB to those strips and then stick your sign face to that. (make sure it's level!) The VHB will be fine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvKRRgrrgOA
  13. Interesting project

doesn't look like hand lettering work to me at all either...
  14. Anyone have a PMS color chart with pms number and 'c' for coated?

FWIW, the U/C at the end refers to the material that you are printing the spot color on (Coated/Uncoated) so printing the "C" color chart on matte (uncoated) is kinda incorrect. The ink color is the same whether the material is different, it is just showing how it lays on / sinks into the material.
  15. Anyone have a PMS color chart with pms number and 'c' for coated?

Here is the one we print on all of our materials.
  16. ISO Composer

I am looking for a copy of GSP composer (print & cut). 4.0 preferrably, but beggers can't be choosers!
  17. Can't Find It Script

    Any ideas guys? (and gals)
  18. What the #×%+@ did they do to Sign Gold?

Not sure, our 3M rep brought us a sample of "Real Gold" by a couple weeks ago and it DID have a 3M 220 paper carrier on the back of it. However, we usually buy direct from SignGold and all of our rolls still have the nice plastic liner... The mystery deepens?
  19. Looking for vehicle wrap for client near Farmington Il

One of our subcontractors doesn't mind to travel for installs, in fact he has spent the entire week up in Columbus, Ohio for us this week: Matt Cummins, Big Gun Graphics 859-250-4080
  20. Leo's Smart Gold

Leo's Smart Gold is made with Brass and it DOES change over time. I have seen it turn green on a lot of trucks myself.
