Their magnetic alupanel (linked above) was great. I couldn't Bend it with my hands... It was really expensive though... So we opted not.to use it. Plus at the time I was told it's an European product and not stocked locally. They wanted a month lead time on it.
This was when it first came out...
K... I'm back in the shop, sorry for the little information I provided!
This is a video of how it works. (Not my video!) So it'll stick to any magnet... we did a 24 x 48 sign with it, and the printed part was like 2 lbs or something.
It's called Ultraflex signetics... theres a few...
We use visual magnetics. Make your sign like usual.... Use double sided tissue tape and some vehicle grade magnet cut to the shape you want to be blank.
You print on this really thin material that's laced with steel... It's lighter than vinyl. That will be the removable pieces your client...
I believe there's a translucent diamond grade. How good it works, I have no idea... Or even if it works. We've never had a use for it, we don't even have a sample. I just saw someone asking for a sample one day and it peaked my Interest.
4090t. And 3930t for HI. Not really wrap materials...
Isn't there a slew of 250 3rd party inks you can buy? I know one of our vendors has been bugging us to try it... We're always too afraid of third party ink messing up print heads, so we dont ever bother.
Ebay has a bunch of different brands. Jettec is the one our supplier was trying to sell...
Keep in mind there is 3M Certified... and then there is 3M Preferred. 3M Certified could mean he paid the $600, went to the 1 day course that consisted of a 3M Rep telling you about all the tools you should buy at the 15% off discount, how their films are better than everyone elses... and then...
Keep in mind there's also a language barrier. Just because he speaks English and writes it pretty good does not mean he understands everything going on here.
Every culture is different...and while what he's saying may make him seem like a pompous ass to us, he may not be intending it that...
If the installer is 3M preferred he should know you never install below the water line.
Vinyls not meant to soak in water.. And the pressure from it will easily tear the water. 3M will not warranty anything below water line, I'm sure orafol wouldn't either.
Tell him you do not warrant...
Have any photos of your home made one? I started to use a 4ft piece of reflective diamond grade...then I just tape it onto the media so there's no waste. It's slow and a Pain, it's.be nice if hp offered a media saver solution for these printers too.
When I'm in a rush I just extend it out...
We keep a few of our vinyl boxes for this.... and cores. But usually when we put them in the box, we wrap the prints around the core... throw the plastic sleeve that came with the vinyl over top... Put the cores back in so the print is centered in the box, and ship it that way. Never had any...
Yup... It's the same over here. Cylinders are an extra $10... I guess because they can't stack them easily.
There's a local third party shipping provider that doesn't charge more for them though... Funny enough they cross the border into Washington and ship all their packages (even Canadian...
Shipping in Canada is expensive. Where are they going? And how many? A 48x32 is probably $75-100 just in shipping from Canada to Canada... Prices here are insane. It's cheaper to drive to USA and ship an item from there to Canada, than it is Canada to Canada.
Why don't you ship them yourself...
https://www.rollemusa.com/portfolio/semi-slitters/ We have one like this... not this exact model, next time I'm by it I'll try to see what model it is. I know we've had it for 15+ years...
It works great. It's like a graphtec though... You have to set the blade depth everytime, if you do it...
So you want a 1" to 2.25"? I was in the same boat with an Epson I purchased... They wanted $100ish too, which wasn't worth i. And I found a "hack". Cost about $4 in materials to make two adapters... It might help you make some temp ones. We did it tova few 2" cores... It's not a perfect...
Never tried it on a summa/graphtec... We have our own backslitting machine, so no need to.
Our customers have been requesting more and more that instead of backslit... We just kiss cut it to exact, then perf cut it 1/8" around the decal. Then they can bend and peel it off easy... Works great...
I made a cat tree put of them
We get dozens a week. Most go into our cardboard bin to recycle. We keep 5-10 of each on hand for our take up.... But if you go into any sign shop odds are they'll give you as many as you want.
I bought some 3" caps on uline.... And I started to ship single...
Substrate:
IJ180mC-10, ID 131380
They have a profile for 180MC... which is the same as CV3, just different air channels. Profiled and certified for your printer.
Heads? I have a few at 6 Liters right now that are working great. run a cleaning before printing... maybe print the gutter bars if...
In our 3m vehicle class the teacher pulled out some sandwhich bags filled with vinyl. He had them labeled 0,6,12,24 hours -
He explained he laminated and threw them in the sandwhich bag based on those times. It's an extreme case because the bags are sealed airtight and any solvents have...
Is this a local shop or an online? Did you ask them yet? It's definately red and not orange. We'd never send that out... Not many people have proofs though. They have 100 files to rip... They print it and send it out. Red oranges and Grey's are the hardest colors to hit... There's a few oranges...
