  5. Tip for Lettering Height in Illustrator

the point (ha) is that while 6 picas=72 points=1 inch, it's a rare situation when 72 points = 1 inch of type. I've just had better results when I use <as a starting point> 100pts=1 inch for signage typefaces. I think we just beat this to death... again.

  7. Tip for Lettering Height in Illustrator

I know each typeface is going to have variables but it's fairly accurate with most of mine for some lucky reason. I just checked a job I'm working on right now with the font "STENCIL" and 72pts is about 3/4", 100pts is exactly 1" . I always use the screen ruler and drag lines down to double...

  12. Which plotter would you choose and Why?

if your not considering a Summa I'd go with Mimaki. Graptech may be fine but I've never used one. Have a 10 year old Mimaki and it's solid. Mimaki should hire an English technical writer because some of their instructions are gibberish, other than that it's been fine.
  13. Construction site sign

"would use 10' 4"x4" post and set 3' into the ground leaving it 7' to top of sign." is about right. We have done a lot of these too and for only one 4x8 ( horizontal I assume) panel you could get by with 2, 10' 4x4 posts and maybe a stringer or two. Unless you are WAY out in the boonies you...

Design a logo at no cost is a separate issue from the copyright and ownership of the logo. You designed it and you still own it until you assign specific rights. ANother sign company can't use it unless you allow them to do so. You dont even need to "Copyright" it. You as the designer own it...
